Hearing that DVC hasn’t finished the refurbishment of Big Pine Key and that some guests are being moved to Riviera because the rooms are not all ready.

I was wondering if this would happen. It looked like so much work was left from the last pictures that were posted. I would be so disappointed though!

It is because they moved some construction staff to VWL to start that refurb!

Oh no, any idea if it is certain room view categories (edited from room types) or if everyone is being moved?

That’s unfortunate. I hope they finish soon. Not sure what’s better - being moved to a different resort because your room isn’t ready, or getting to stay in your room next to ongoing construction.

All 202 rooms at VGF2 are Resort Studios.

Someone posted pictures in a FB group of rooms past night around 6pm, one showed a closet door not being installed, others showed general construction equipment still in the area, so not surprised they’re not done.

DVC will just stick people in other Hotel Rooms if they don't have an available room. Hotel rooms are probably widely available at GF, this is the reason they converted Big Pine to DVC.

We were just there a week and a half ago, and there was scaffolding all around it. It didn’t look anywhere near finished.

eek this would not work for us. half our party is in the resort studios and the other half is in the GF resort proper. fingers crossed BPK is done by early August.

Thanks! Our trip is 45 days away, so that would be a significant delay in my mind. I can’t imagine the resort side of the GF is sold out the first week of august, so if they called and offered us Riviera, i’d see if they could either move all of us there, or move the studio folks to the GF proper. I’ll be following along for developments and first hand reports

Not surprised they opted to park people at Riv since DVC still has a lot of undeclared inventory there - but I’d be very disappointed to be moved to the Riviera since I dislike the resort. Imagine planning an MK/monorail based trip and being stuck at the CBR tower annex.

Hey, wait a minute-I see REAL coffee cups! Give me one good reason why they can have real coffee cups, but every other DVC gets styrofoam and plastic ware instead of glass glasses.
I still prefer having a refrigerator and microwave, but I want it all-a refrigerator. a microwave, real coffee cups, and real glasses.

You're right!! I hadn't even noticed that initially. Real coffee cups, and glass cups that are made of glass.

I suspect its for the same reason this DVC gets room service, and bathrobes, and slippers (seriously, slippers!!! I don't remember getting slippers at my last VGF stay, is this new?)

I wouldn't know what that reason is though But I'm very excited for the slippers. I hope they aren't just putting them here for the photo shoot.
