Okay so...I have been a Disney person long enough to know that Disney does not allow for double dipping. If you get free dining you don't get a room discount and vice versa.

A person I work with was INSISTING that in August there is a double dip situation happening. One can have both, not either/or. It's apparently at the end of August.

I am fairly certain I insisted right back that Disney doesn't do this.

Who would be correct? Any one know?

There may be some exceptions to the rule, but that is not normal.

There are legitimate ways to save more though, such as buying discounted disney gift cards and booking with them.

I would seriously doubt it. My experience tells me the same as you.

The only time I've seen it is here in the UK when free dining comes out for the following year it's also offered with a room discount on OKW & SSR. But only with those two resorts.

Are you in Florida? There is a discount that I booked 2 days ago for end of July/beginning of August that is a room discount w/ FL resident tickets (normally blacked out for this time period) and a free Memory Maker.

Maybe they are confused because the end of August has a lower rack rate. If they switched their dates to get free DDP they would pay this lower full price rate on the room.

I got a room discount with free park hopper (PIN) for 10 days for end of August. I also got a PIN for free dining, but no room discount.

Are they British or do they know someone who is British?

It's somewhat typical for British guests to be offered a room percentage or some other type of discount on top of free dining, especially for underutilized resorts.
