OK - I realize some may find this blasphemous - but it is VERY important for a number of reasons that I do not wish to get into that we eat very heathfully during our upcoming Disney vacation.

That being said - where would you recommend the best places to get more healthy fare (e.g. salads, grilled chicken, etc)?

We will probably splurge with a mickey ice-cream or two - but the the bulk of our eating, we'd like to be healthy.

Thanks!

The menus really helped us in planning our dining. My DH is on a very low-fat diet for medical reasons, and was afraid he'd be eating nothing but lettuce the whole trip. Fortunately that wasn't the case, we were able to find low-fat chicken dishes, salads and fruit, enough variety to be satisfying.

You also can call Disney Dining and ask to speak with the head chefs for each park or for the hotel restaurants. I spoke with one last year, and he said they'd be happy to prepare any menu item in a more low-fat way, or even prepare an off-the-menu dish with some prior notice. They are very accomodating of guests' dietary needs. :thumbsup2

If you haven't already, check out the sticky labeld My Disneyland Dining reviews and Pictures, I would start there. The photos might be helpful to you too.

Seems like Blue Bayou has some leaner & healthier choices (along with their full fat stuff) as does Cafe Orleans. The Mexican place and soup/bread place in CA in the Pacific Wharf area have some healthy choices too. Both parks have carts that sell fresh fruit, milk and granola all throughout the day....not cheaply but that kind of stuff is very available.

I also like to eat healthy, and am having an increasingly difficult time deciding where to eat because there are so many good choices. Most of the sit-down restaurants have healthy selections, and even the counter service restaurants are providing enticing options. At DL, for example, Redd Rocketts offers some nice salads, Tomorrowland Terrace has a yummy vege sandwich, Bengal Barbeque (as long as it is still open) has tasty veggy skewers and chicken skewers, the fruit carts have some perfectly ripe fruit (especially the pineapple)... the list goes on. If you are interested in a character meal, I would suggest a lunch or dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. They have a small salad bar, some nice vegetables, and some chicken and fish entrees. On the other hand, I thought that Ariel's Grotto was one of the worst place at the DLR for healthy choices.

would love to echo that we love the redd rockets pizza port. great salads and they are huge. my mom and i share and the chef even grilled a piece of chicken for my son (they put the chicken on some of the salads). we also love the fruit from the cart and the salad at Goofy's and they even had some veggies at goofy's, cannot remember if they were grilled though or not.

I like White Water Snacks for lighter, healthier eating. They have some pre-made sandwiches in their refrigerated section. I have always enjoyed the tuna salad. They also have yummy garden salads (not just iceberg and a tomato) and larger fruit salads than you will find the parks.
