So I'm on Weight Watchers and really hoping to stay on plan while at Disney. We are doing the meal plan while there so I know I will be eating where my Mom and Step-Dad (the ones who are taking us) have reserved thus far.

Yes I'm planning on ordering more fruits and veggies, planning on eating salads, etc, but do all places have healthy choices?

And I'm taking snacks for me, Special K breakfast bars etc.

So if you have any suggestions I'm all ears. Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on working on changing your lifestyle. You really should have no problems finding suitable foods to eat at WDW.

There are a few threads about 'losing weight for Mickey' which might be helpful. Also, there are a number of WW Dis'ers also.

You might try posting with the words WW Points in the title if you don't get the answers you're looking for in this thread. Or consider editing this thread and adding WW Points in the title. That might help.

Disney is great about working with People's dietary needs. The chef's are all great (well, most of them anyway) and will accommodate any reasonable request.

Of course anything packaged (like Ice cream from the carts) will come with info you can point out. Restaurants are a bit more challenging but it's no different than going out to eat at home. You do have to be vigilant and ask for no butter, grill only, sauce on the side, things like that.

Planning is going to be your key. Having snacks you like versus just eating anything will help to keep you on track. I see you are staying on property (b/c you mentioned you'd be on the DDP). Depending on what property you stay out, it may be worth packing things with you. I know that many people who stay at POP or All-Star take lots of microwaveable things b/c the food court is easy to use. If you are staying in a villa with a kitchen and going shopping for some food, you can always stock up on veggies and fruit.

Also, Disney does have fruit readily available in the parks. Of course it's not cheap, but if you are DDP then the fruit would count as one snack.

Watch your counter service meals b/c the desserts tend to be very high point items, unless you ask for fruit.

Disney really tries to have options for everyone. At table service just let your server know that you are on a low fat diet and he/she can help you make better choices.

But, that all being said, enjoy yourself. If you want to keep track of points do so, but if you go over your daily amount just write it down and be done with it. Don't beat yourself up. You will do a lot of walking that you may not normally do. Whether you write down 50 or not, if you had 50 points in one day then it is what it is. It's not an every day thing and maybe the next day you will be less likely to eat the full dessert and instead opt for just a bite. And remember just b/c it comes with the DDP (dessert) doesn't mean you have to eat the whole thing and lick the plate too. Portions may be large but you don't have to eat all of it. If you leave it on your plate, no worries!

Enjoy your trip! You'll do just fine!!!

P.S. If you're a Dole Whip girl, I heard that 1/2 cup is 2 points.

Wow thank you so much for alll the tips! I really appreciate it. Since as you can see, I'm pretty knew, I'm trying to catch up on all the stuff on these boards but there is no way I can read it all, way too much info!

Again thank you!

You'll see fruit options, sugar free desserts, and other healthy choices all around WDW, though you may need to pass by one CS place for another. It's gotten SO much easier to find good, healthy food. And talk to servers in restaurants to get food cooked or sauced in a way that will help you stay on track. We've had the chef come out to talk to us to make sure we are eating what we want. They're very accommodating.

Hi, Erin! I am one year out after weight loss surgery and getting ready for our second trip since. As the previous posts mention, there are plenty of healthy options. we are going during free dining and i already know after a few bites, I will be finished. The fresh fruit is wonderful, and i think they do have frozen, sugar free or no sugar added desserts. And I agree, above all, enjoy yourself!

Good for you for planning to stick to your plan while there! You are a stronger person than me, ha ha. I'm impressed. While there in June I was pretty amazed to see all the fresh fruit options at Disney. I think you should have no problems.

I am a lifetime member of WW and went to WDW on more than one occasion while I was still actively losing weight. There are many healthy food options... actually some of the easiest "WW friendly" meals I had were in the food court at ASMo! Twice I came back having lost weight... all that walking! You don't realize how much exercise you really are getting! The one tip that I was given that really helped was drink a lot of water. There is a lot of salt in restaurant food. And we all know how salt can sabotage your diet because of the water retention! I carried a water bottle with me everywhere and kept drinking. It really worked for me. Good luck!

Thank you for all the replies.

It's very good to know there are healthy options. Now I just have to make the right choices. This weekend has been BAD for me. I didn't make good choices at all. Booooo!
