How do I stay healthy during my vacation at WDW with all of these ADRs???

Can I get some tips!!! :cheer2:

Hi Misslissa! My husband and I went to WDW for the first time last year, and I was surprised and pleased to find that it wasn't as hard to stay healthy as I thought it might be. We were very active; I was amazed at how many miles we walked! I thought the Crystal Palace at MK had some healthy choices... salmon, black bean salad, good stuff like that. Of course, one has to avoid the ice cream and pastries for sale on Main Street! We tried to eat our main meal early in the day and then had a light snack in the evening, which I'm sure helped.

I would love it if other forum members posted info about WDW restaurants with healthy choices!

Good luck Misslissa! :cheer2:

You might try to split meals with a family member. That approach helped us. However, DH and I have very different taste in food and this only worked for some days. Plan your indulgences so you don't feel deprived. You will be doing a lot of walking and that will help some too. Enjoy your vacation and come back determined to continue on your healthy choice way of life.

Grilled not fried
sauce, dressing on the side
Veggies--lots of them. Raw or steamed

IF you do dessert--split it as a family (a single serving size..not something like the Kitchen Sink ;)).

This is how I eat at most any restaurant. The killer for me usually is the fillers like bread and appetizers. So limit to 1 piece of bread..and I nix the appetizers. It leaves no room for dinner anyway.

Salads--I love them....sometimes they are good just by themselves.

I find I do well at Buffets....well except when I choose to eat dessert :(.

ummm..... what's an ADR?? sorry

first thing that came to my mind was Columbia Harbor House at MK -- they had some healthy dining options that were quite yummy! definately split meals and desserts whenever you can and avoid the buffets

take meal replacement bars with you for breakfast in your room -- ones with good nutritional value -- i like Zone bars (they are kinda high if you're on WW though) or Kashi Go Lean bars. Take your vitamins everyday! don't deprive your bod of nutrients or you may start dragging and think 'what the heck'

:rotfl2: How many carbs/calories do you think in a kitchen sink?

That's the only disadvantage with me being solo-I won't have anyone to share meals with. I plan to eat alot of salads, fruit (there are quite a few fruit stands), soup, and drink lots of water (nothing else to drink-or at least, not too much else). Anyone have any other suggestions?

I was solo on my last vacation and will be for the first half of this one. One suggestion I would make is go to the store and buy breakfast and snacks for the week. I was staying in a DVC studio so I had access to a fridge and microwave. Having a good breakfast to get you started really helps you get a good start for the day. I also bought some premade sugar free jello. I'll admit there no Mickey Bar it can at least help you cut down on the sweets. I also allowed myself 1 treat a day. You get a lot of exercise during the day and you will burn off those calories. I also tried to make a mental list of places around WDW at each of the parks that had things that were on program. I was able to stay "on program" (SBD) 85% of the time. 10% of the time were treats. And then only 1 or twice in 8 days I had to settle for something less than ideal (Mainly over at universal).

make good choices

vacation more and eat less....

water....

walk walk walk...that is easy at WDW...

do not feel guilty for throwing away food!!! Take a few bites and dump it!!! Esp if it is fatty, sugary or fried...

the buffets had good veggie choices as well as seafood and fruit choices...

they also had desserts cut into small slices...TAKE ONE!!!!
