Can anyone give me some specifics? Are there elliptical trainers, treadmills, free weights and cables? Has anyone ever been to the classes (specifically interested in pilates and yoga)? When I've cruised before I've been pregnant or had a young baby and wasn't too interested in working out so I've never even set foot in the gym! Thanks.

I must say that the work out room on the Magic was very dissapointing. There were several treadmills (8?), some free weights and possibly one or two other machines. I think this is one area that Disney could improve.

There are several treadmills, about 3 or 4 ellipticals and one or two stairmasters. In addition, there are free weights, one incline bench and several Cybex machines (leg press, tris, back, shoulder, bis (I think!), chest and two or so more. I wasn't thrilled or disappointed with the room....it served it's purpose well! I guess I look at the workout room like this...In the two cruises we did back to back, there were very few occasions when the room was really crowded, even on sea days....meaning, most people don't consider working out on the cruise, so DCL may not feel it is an area that is lacking for the general cruising population....

I took advantage of the once again complementary work out classes (step, yoga and kickboxing). All entry level workouts, but they are still good! They last about 40-45 minutes, so I would try to gather all my will power to lift before or after to get about an hour and fifteen minutes in.......I was quickly running to Scoops after, however! My daily, okay, ONE of my daily splurges!

Yes! They have everything but it can get crowded, the room is not too big.

This summer, I vowed to work out more and I did! Right away, you need to sign up for classes when you board. They are free and very popular. I had a great time with Fiona and Carol, they were the instructors. Seriously, I DIDN'T GAIN WEIGHT THIS SUMMER. How cool is that!!

I was determined to not gain weight on my recent cruise, so hit the fitness center every day. I never had to wait for equipment. The list is pretty much as above--they have a rowing machine, exercise balls in addition to those I noted in the above post.

I was disappointed that some of the classes were cancelled for lack of attendance. I was the only person who showed up for one, despite 5 on the list.

On previous cruises, I've found the fitness center crowded on some sea days...never on land days. But even then, it was a wait of 10 minutes or so for a treadmill to open up. THe other equipment was readily available.

I loved the treadmill and looking out over the bridge. I also spent a few days running on Deck 4 - it was a blast - just go early or it gets really hot.

And you can take a shower in the locker room area, these should be on the "not to be missed" thread - they are GREAT showers!

Thanks everyone for the information. The gym sounds like it will meet my needs just fine. I probably will walk/run on Deck 4 once, but I really like to time myself and track how many calories I'm burning <g>, especially when I know I'll be eating dessert every night.
