Heads Up Regarding New Ticket Purchases

You go right ahead and stay OFF property, and all those hassles, I will stay at DVC and catch the bus!!!

No increases in 5 years??? Wonder how the properties will look in 10 years?
The same as Disney??

The poster you quoted is also a DVC member. You may not be aware that it is MUCH cheaper to stay off property at other timeshares. And many people, not me though, actually prefer staying off property. senecabeach is pointing out that one can own non Orlando timeshares and trade back in. If they never use what they own but keep getting the trades they want, they don't even care what it looks like. I's actually possible to do it even cheaper than $350 per week if one tries.

It has long since been a rule for the tickets not to be transferable. The reason is obvious, sell more tickets for more days. Disney's choice and one agrees to those rules when you buy the ticket.

I'm okay with the new system. It may take a few more minutes, like the bag checks by security, but I'm fine with it.

We've had PAP's for the past 5 years and the bio-metrics have caused confusion and issue, but this too shall pass.

Just a little trivia....

I am now gathering all my (8) full and partial PH & PHP tickets for my upcoming trip this coming Friday...and am having a chuckle that I'd like to share.. :rotfl:

1999..4 day PH's = $167
2004..4 day PH's = $219
2003..1 day..1 park(Xmas gift)..$52
2004..7 day PHP = $342 (ticketmaster w/discount)

Im really not nuts or collect old tickets..do like using them for future trips and get a kick out of the greater value they have now @ the past cheaper price.
Did you understand that??

Well...I will get used to the new purchasing procedures & prices and NEVER buy a ticket with an expiration date.

Im still not happy about the new all ticket finger scan!!
I cannot give my tickets to my extended family, when I give them my DVC...who could not afford to go otherwise..SAD :sad2: :sad2:

This still stinks..and I believe it is Disney's "hidden agenda" to have people purchase current tickets @ current prices..even pro-rating the expiration prices..

My 2 cents,

This is a business, ticket prices and options will be decided in the best interest of that business at that time.

I happen to like the changes, although I will probably still buy my PAP's finger scan and all (the only time there was ever an issue is with DH - very large thick fingers although I think it was user failure  -showed id no problem)

When we go to WDW in March we will be traveling with 2 of DH's - DB's
and their families. One has limited funds-small children and will chose the 5 day, hopper option, with an expiration date which is cheaper then the current 5 day hopper. The other family has teens and will want the added advantage of going to DQ without having to buy an Ultimate park hopper.

I don't think there's a single thing "hidden" about the new ticket programs. The finger scan is obviously designed as an enforcement mechanism for the policies that...to be blunt...you have been violating for years. When you give Disney your dollars, you enter into a contract, agreeing to the terms printed on the back of the pass.

I'm sure they realize that there will be some disenfranchisement over these changes. But, as allforpooh points out, they have legitimate business reasons for the changes.

A simple eBay search for "Disney World Park Hopper" reveals 220 CURRENT auctions for WDW passes. Some of them are probably legitimate, unused passes. Others are most definitely partially-used hoppers, the sale of which violates Florida law. And every partially-used pass carries with it significant potential for lost revenue to WDW.

And there is also the guest who gets to the gate with thier EBAY pass and discovers that they just paid several hundred dollars for tickets that only have Plus options left or nothing left and wants Disney to make things right. (And yes it happens, I have read at least one post on the DIS where a woman got ripped off this way and was then very upset that Disney did not fix the issue. She wanted a free ticket from Disney!)

When Disney makes a decision like this there is only one recourse if you don't like it: stop buying the tickets.

I'm amazed that it's come to essentially voluntary fingerprinting. At the very least that is offensive. I know their motivation is primarily financial, but my concern isn't so much what I can and can't get away with, but the personal privacy I'm giving up.

So, what's in it for me?

1. A safer WDW? I doubt it.

2. Lower ticket prices? Are they going to pass on some of the bucks they save? I guess we'll find out once they pay for the new system. But they're gonna need something to pay for Eisner's severance/retirement package, and I bet their income isn't going to go up as much as they think.

3. At least I hope it'll be easier to get replacements for lost tickets. I guess I'd call that a fair payback in itself.

My 2cents on the hopper-sharing controversy: I see no problem with sharing tickets and park hoppers. I have and would again. I don't see how Disney loses much money if Fred lets Ethel or Ricky or Lucy use his park hopper for a couple of days. The people that really want to cheat will find a way to cheat the scan system. And while they cheat, Ricky and Lucy won't be able to blow $150 on champagne at Les Chefs des France if they've spent the day at the Animal Kingdom. I hope Disney feels good about that.

Sure you can. You can buy tickets now to use for that purpose or you can buy an individual ticket as appropriate each time you want to gift days to your family. What you can't do is buy a multiday ticket and use it for multiple different people over time. You were never supposed to do this, it's just that Disney had no good way to monitor it. We'll see how it goes this time for the new tickets and though I don't think you'll be able to share tickets any more, we'll see.
