Heads up - heat wave coming

Sounds like where I am. Why am I going to on vacation to a place that's as hot as where I am:confused3 Oh wait, I don't have an amusement park in my backyard:) I do have a bunch of singing birds and animatronic coyotes though. Actually, I think those are real.

sorry I took the batteries out of you coyotes. Our snowbird park model is not set up for summer living, so we are sleeping outside in the carport and I need my night time sleep. As for the birds, I need them to wake me up so I can join the folks walking in the shade of the high peaked mountains to our east. wife is shopping for indoor window coverings for the first time heat wave, no sleeping outside when low temp friday is the current high temp.

I have a feeling Path of The Jedi will hit max occupancy for the first time.

I’m arriving Sunday, so I hope the excessive heat does start to diminish as forecasted. If not, I’ll just lay on top of that new Pixar Pier water ball and tell the kids I’m ‘heat exhaustion man’ from the upcoming Incredibles 3.

Looks like the heatwave won't land till Friday or so. And it'll only make about 101. On the Fourth, the high should be 77 :-). 101 in SoCal is perfectly tolerable, especially in the shade. I'm home in Chicago now for a few weeks. The humidity here is horrid. I believe that the heat index hit 105 a few days ago. I love Chicago but I'm gradually realizing that I like LA more than I thought I did/would ;-).

As an aside, friends messaged me from the park this morning. They were there at rope drop and were first on PP. Can't wait to resume my weekly visits :-).

Please remember to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! And that means plenty of water, not sodas, coffee, or alcohol. Cups of ice water are free at most CS locations -- take advantage of this! And know where First Aid is located in both parks (at the end of the cul de sac past the Little Red Wagon and Baby Care Center in DL, next to Chamber of Commerce in DCA). The nurses there are super friendly and are more than willing to help anyone who is feeling unwell from the heat. Please don't wait until you feel sick -- go before it gets bad. And take note of locations with a/c -- shops, restaurants, lobbies, attractions, etc. -- where you can rest for a bit when you need to.

Sounds like a single rider Splash Mountain kind of weekend, take 3x a day or as needed for heat exhaustion.

We are headed to the LA area this week... Of course the two days we plan to go to Disneyland are Friday and Saturday.:faint: I'm not sure if we'll be able to reconfigure things to change plans or not.

I've seen various lists of indoor attractions, etc., but do folks have good suggestions as to CS or TS restaurants in the parks where there's indoor air-conditioned seating available? In DL, if we have a reservation at Carnation Cafe, are we likely to be able to get an indoor table? Same question about Lamplight Lounge in DCA. We have a Fantasmic dining package reservation at River Belle Terrace on Saturday - is that all outdoor seating?

Thanks!

Carnation Cafe is nice and cool inside as is The Plaza Inn. Disney does not fool around when it comes to AC so any indoor area will be a good relief from the heat.
A nice semi-quiet place to take a cool break is Great Moments with Lincoln. It's not generally very full and the dark, cool interior is like getting your batteries charged.

We rode Pirates A LOT when it was so hot!!

The Animation Academy in DCA is also a great spot to get out of the heat. We went through two or three different sessions.

Carnation Cafe and Riverbelle Terrace both have indoor and outdoor seating. I have not been to Riverbelle recently. My experience last summer with Carnation was that they were not taking seating requests...first available table inside or out is what you got.

lol. It might have if it was still there. I believe that theater is currently being used for an Ant-Man and Wasp preview. Maybe that will hit max occupancy although the movie will already be out this weekend. Lousy time for Disney to have closed down all the nice air conditioned places that people might like to take breaks in. No more It's Tough to be A Bug. The former Muppets theater is supposed to show Pixar shorts but is currently closed until later in July. The AMC movie theater in downtown Disney is permanently closed. I'm thinking the Frozen show, Ant-Man preview, and Animation studio are all going to be quite crowded on Friday and Saturday. Maybe even Mr. Lincoln will get a higher number of visitors than usual.

I saw that and decided it was beach and movie weekend instead of Disney. Even in Redondo Beach they are predicting 90+ on Saturday. Redondo *never* hits that high, even in the hottest times of the year. Beach Saturday and Ant-Man and Wasp on Sunday ;)

Very delayed reply... Thanks to everyone for all the tips in this and the other thread about beating the heat. Despite 110+ temperatures, app/MP/FP system failures, power outages, etc., we ended up having a great time both Friday 7/6 and Saturday 7/7, especially given the light crowds. :-) Thankfully we were able to get inside seating at Carnation Cafe for lunch on Friday and at RBT on Saturday evening, which helped. Inside seating at Lamplight Lounge was not so cool given the openness to the outside patio, but drinks were lovely.
