Heads up for Loaded Baked Potato Soup lovers!

We just returned from a few days at the parks and I was a bit surprised to see that the Loaded Baked Potato soup bowl at Carnation Cafe has increased from $5.49 to $8.49. Not sure when this happened as the last time we were there was in September. Still worth it, but not quite the bargain it used to be! The cup is now $5.49 BTW.

No, no recipe this time, I got one a few years back though. A few people have posted that they don't even give out the recipe anymore now...Oscar did come visit with us, I should've asked him about the increase, but I didn't.

Yeah, I was pretty shocked when I noticed this on the menu in November. I figured the soup has become so well known and popular, Disney figures it can jack the price like that and still sell plenty. I guess it's working since I ordered it anyway. Disappointingly large price hike though.

I'm pretty sure when we were there at the beginning of December that was the price too. So I think it was changed before than. It was almost $60 for our lunch, I had the sandwich soup combo, DH had the pot pie and a bowl of soup and an ice tea and DD had something off the kids meal, can't remember what??? Was way more expensive then when we went the prior year But was still really really yummy!!!

And I asked our waiter for a copy of the soup receipe and he said they no longer give it out boo hoo

Wow, I didn't even notice that when I ate there last week and I even took a picture of the menu. I ordered the half-sandwich and cup of soup, which is $10.99 now. I upgraded to the bowl of soup, though, so my total was $12.99. Is that the same as the old upgrade price? $2? I can't remember.

I make it all the time and love it! It's actually become one of DH's favorites and he always requests it for part of his birthday dinner.

I have made several changes to mine based on our diet restrictions and in the hopes of not consuming quite SO many fat and calories. I use half the amount of bacon and use turkey bacon instead. I also use 1/4 the amount of heavy cream but sub the heavy cream for half and half. Turns out perfect and I feel a little lighter and better for not eating so much "yucky" stuff! I also use half red or yukon potatoes and half baking/Idaho potatoes. Yummy!

I was looking at some menus the other night and noticed that the Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans has gone up to $17 or $18! I think it was $15.99 last June. I guess DL is raising the prices of their food a bit.

I ate at PW today and their bowls are $8.99. At least it's a bread bowl though.
