HEADS UP....Dream/Magic Itinerary Change Fall of 2014

I called DCL and was told that there are early November cruises that aren't listed publicly. We had previously booked the double dip on the Dream leaving on 11/13/2014 and as soon as the CM mentioned the double dip on the Dream leaving on 11/10/2014, I was thrilled! I don't know why Disney didn't automatically move us to this cruise instead of one in October?

Thanked the CM and then called Costco. Got a great TA named Brianna who spent about 45 minutes with Disney making sure everything got transferred correctly. We're all set now! Thank you all for the information you provided.

Can you tell me if the 11/10 is a 4 day or a 5 day please? :)

Several new sailings have been added to the Disney Magic for fall of 2014. As most Disney Cruise Line fans already know, the Magic will be going to dry-dock from September 7 through October 10, 2014. During this time, the ship will undergo a complete remodel, getting new decor, new kids clubs, new restaurants and much more. When the ship comes back online, it will move to Port Canaveral (the Magic has been sailing primarily out of Miami) and will take on 7-night sailings to the Caribbean. To cover the Miami sailings, the Disney Wonder will take over the already-scheduled dates. The Magic will alternate Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries through the middle of November, then will sail Western itineraries for the rest of the year. These last Western sailings will alternate between Key West, FL and Falmouth, Jamaica.

The list of new sail dates includes:

10/18/14: 3-night repositioning cruise from San Juan to Port Canaveral
10/21/14: 5-night Bahamian itinerary
10/26/14: 7-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary
11/02/14: 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary
11/09/14: 7-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary
11/16/14: 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary (Jamaica)
11/23/14: 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary (Key West)
11/30/14: 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary (Jamaica)
12/07/14: 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary (Key West)
12/14/14: 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary (Jamaica)
12/21/14: 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary (Key West)
12/28/14: 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary (Jamaica)

Actually the Magic is going into dry dock sept-oct 2013 not 2014. She is sailing the Southern in Sept and October 2014.

Since I only did a cut and paste directly from the disboards/wdwinfo website, someone has to tell the moderator about the error.
Purpose of the post was to list the Magic 2014 4th quarter sailings.

I've been skimming through these posts and haven't seen anybody mention getting a discount or on board credit for any inconveniences this may have caused anybody.
In my case we were paying $2052 for 2a2c in an inside stateroom on the magic. Now we are paying $3100 for 4night dream cruise. Now we pay more for less nights. I feel like its not worth it. Am I the only one who feels this way?

It has been mentioned, but with DCL giving notice more than a year out from the cruise dates that isn't going to happen. When they have done this within 3-6 months of a cruise and requires changes to flight reservations and hotels then they compensate with paying any change/cancellation fees and OBCs for the cruise.

No problem. I knew it was just a copy/paste, but I didn't want any one to get confused:thumbsup2

We tried asking but they said they wouldn't do ANYTHING for us. I'd rather keep my reservation on the Wonder for less $ than switch back to the Magic and give them more.

So the 11/10 cruise is the exact same one that was going to leave on the 13th? And they moved us from the 13th to October instead? How odd of them.

And you were booked, then you...changed it to something? Then found out about the 10th, called, changed whatever you had to the 10th, and then got it transferred to a TA?

I wonder if just changing from Nov to Oct (just going along with what they chose) might have restarted the 30 days for a TA transfer? Anyone have thoughts on that? Hmm.....

No. When you switch dates for a reservation, the original booking date remains the same. This is the date that is used by the insurance company to determine PEC coverage, as well as the timeframe to transfer to a TA.

The November 10th cruise is a double dip however it has a day at sea and runs from Mon-Fri. The original November 13th cruise ran from Thurs through Mon and had 2 stops at CC and one stop at Nassau. The Oct 23 cruise is more like the original Nov 13 cruise because it also leaves on a Thurs, has the 2 sops at CC, and has the stop at Nassau. I am thinking that is why they moved us to the Oct 23rd sailing instead of the Nov 10th sailing.

Oh drat. :) Thought I'd found a hole to squeeze through. :)

Disney insurance doesn't apply to us as they can't sell it in WA (insurance MUST cover pre-existing conditions here), so that's a non-issue, but I was wondering about the specifics of jlindley9's situation. It *sounded* like she had one cruise transferred to the other; when ours was transferred automatically it kept the same #, and by the wording of jlindley9 it sounded like they did the same for her (just manually), and then she was also able to transfer it to a TA.

That's why I was asking.

Aha.

Well either one works for me. :) We were definitely not enchanted by Nassau, and the only reason we might get off the ship would be to find those passport-stampers and get that done, then go right back on board. Or if we found a group who had done the walking trip before and let us join them, we would do that. We failed spectacularly at even finding the streets of the walking tour mentioned on the brentjes site, and went back before we even found Elizabeth street... So you can see that we don't really need the Nassau stop at all.

Exactly. The res # doesn't change when you change dates/itineraries. The only way to reset the clock is to cancel and book new. Not a good idea if it was booked onboard.

I have 2 dummy dates that I booked online-onboard. I should have waited in line but it was a beautiful day at sea & I figured I could sit on the verandah & still get my dummy dates & not be stuck standing in line. Then later they changed the rule about transferring to a TA. So now I can't transfer at all. If I don't see anything spectacular in the next 10 weeks, I'll rebook onboard again & cancel these old dummy dates. :sad2:

We never get the insurance through DCL. It's too expensive and we can get better coverage with PEC from the same company who does DCL's insurance on our own directly with them. The original booking date is what all insurance carriers recognize for determining the PEC waiver period.

Alright, so I am still trying to figure out what cruise I am going to switch to. Currently I am on the Magic for Thanksgiving 2014. Can't afford to sail that. My choices are to sail 3 nights on the Magic with WDW a day before and after. (5/16). Sail the Dream 4 nights WDW one day before (5/18) or sail RCCL Explorer of the Seas for 5 nights out of PC over Thanksgiving 2014.

WWYD?

This would be my choice.
Nothing wrong with RCCL but it left me missing DCL and I'd always pick the longest cruise I could do, even if that means less park time. jmho :goodvibes

Magic and Wonder cruises are showing up online. If you choose Magic or Wonder on the DCL website, they don't show up, but if you just choose the itinerary, they are showing up...at least for December 2014.

I'm on "find a cruise" and I want to book December 2014 but the Magic and Wonder disappear when I click December 2014. Where are you finding this? :confused3

The December 2014 Magic and Wonder Itineraries are supposed to be released very soon (DCL concierge thought it would be today). The Magic is going back to Port Canaveral and is going to be doing 7 night Eastern and Western Carribean.

Yes, I know and the PP stated that the Magic/Wonder cruises for December 2014 were showing up on the DCL website. That's why I was asking her how she found them because I couldn't.
