HEADS UP... Disney just changed the EMH schedule for July all the way thru Dec...

:lmao:

Seriously, anyone who thinks this change is "ok" with no notification either doesn't have a trip planned during the time period or thinks Disney can do no wrong.:rolleyes1

Or like me has a trip planned but also knows from prior experience that park hours are subject to change. And can go with the flow without too much problem. Heck I've been at WDW when they have changed the park hours. People who think the hours are now set in stone better still double check during their trips.

Disney has restored my faith! Several weeks ago I had emailed Disney about how this EMH change would effect my families vacation negatively. I was not expecting anything, they were not going to change the hours just for our family. Today I received a call stating they would be adding Park hoppers and 2extra Fastpasses per day of our trip to our reservation for Free! I was kind and respectful in my email and the call! Love that pixie dust. I encourage you if you are also unhappy about this to give Disney a chance to make it right for your family as well. What a blessing this will be for our family!

Wow, that's great for you guys!! It's definitely more than fair since you can now hop over to whatever you didn't make it to originally. Unless it's a really crowded time...it'll work out. Have a great trip!

I thunk everyone understands the concept that park hours are subject to change. I don't think anyone here is thinking the hours are set in stone now - why else would any of us be trying to call and complain to Disney in the hopes.it.might change something?

That doesn't mean Disney couldn't offer a *touch* of better customer service in how they implement the change.

I have a trip planned for this October. I also am the creator of the October DIS FB planning group. On top of that I know Disney can do wrong (and has in the past) such as releasing a buggy system before it was ready.

All of that said, I really do not see the huge deal in changing the operating hours. Nor was there a bit to do about in in the FB group. Some sighing and grumbling, but not near the reactions I have seen here. I will say that I have been a lot more relaxed about things this time around so maybe that is part of it.

If this were a family trip, I wouldn't care...we don't get to evening emh with a 2 y/o in tow. But this is my husband and I's first adults only trip since our daughter was born. Evening emh at MK is very special for us, and we were greatly looking forward to that. Now they have changed it to Saturday, which is during the wine and dine 1/2 that dh is running - so we have no choice about switching nights. And we had to decide that in March, as the wine.and dine 1/2 sold out in less than 36 hrs.

Last year, MK had evening EMH both on Saturday and sunday during the wine and dine weekend. All I would like is for them to show the same consideration to this year's participants as they did last year's.

I'm not saying they have to personally email everyone specifically about it...but why is it unreasonable for them to post a "heads up, operating hours for july - December have been updated.' status on their fb page? Or include a quick announcement on the massive amounts of marketing emails they are already sending out?

I suppose they could do that... but why? Presumably hours and closures are changing all the time. Hours changed on my last trip, tho it was to add an hour in the evening. So on every email marketing thing they send out you want another notice to say "park hours or ride closures may have changed..."?

How would that have helped you? You still found out by being proactive. Being notified a few days earlier when you're at 30 or 45 days out would not have changed the fact that it screws up your FP+ park choices.

Isn't it easier just to post on their website, for all to see on the calendar page, that operating hours and ride closures are subject to change, so if the specific hours matter to you, check back regularly? I look at it as Disney posting it on their website is the notice, and they have no vested interest in utilizing 3rd party non-Disney social media sites to convey schedule changes when they can do so via their own website.

Don't get me wrong I don't like that they do change them, especially given ppl choose their parks 60 days in advance... I don't know what I'd do if faced w the change... I'd probly tweak my schedule if possible if it messed up an a.m. EMH for me... but I think it's a reality of life that they will flex the hours to match the demand, and they're not going to set a precedent of owing a notification to the general public.

At the end of my post, I specifically said I was not referring to every operating hour change. There is a big difference between changing something across the board for 6+ months, and adding.an hour or two (or taking them away) on random days here and there. I would never expect updates for the latter, nor did I suggest it. The former, however, is worthy of a fb status/tweet/blog update.

It doesn't help me...I'm far enough out from my trip that it doesn't matter. For those within their 30/60 day windows, though, I can absolutely see it mattering. I can easily see someone within that window saying "my trip is fully planned, everything is booked, I can sit back and relax until my trip. ". I can also see that type of person not finding out about the change until they get there, at which point switching fp+s will be more difficult. That person could absolutely benefit from stumbling across that kind of update in their fb feed/in an email/tweet 30 days before their trip, when fp+ availability is.likely much better.

If the concern is 3rd party sites, they could could easily use their own blog. Or have the MDE app send out a push notification that there was a change.

It isn't about being owed a notification. It is about good customer service, which Disney is.supposed.to excel at. Airlines don't *have* to personally notify me of a delay, but Southwest does it anyway. It is a reflection of their excellent customer service, and one of the reasons I choose.to fly with them.

Since October folks haven't made their FP+ reservations yet, I can see that it wouldn't be quite as big an issue for them.

We're going from Oct 3rd for 15 nights and actually changing EMH is a big issue. Coming over from the UK means we have to plan a long time ahead and it also means we can't visit as often as we would like.

At exactly 180 days out I very carefully made 15 ADRs for TS dinner for our entire stay all coinciding with evening EMH so we could eat dinner in the park we would then be able to play in without park hopping. Then Disney went and changed the EMH days and now I have ADRs I can not rearrange as there is no availability.

So actually to me it really is a very big issue and one that I am really not happy about.

Thanks for the information. It actually has impact on my plan.... Was planning to hop to MK on 24Aug (Sun( for EMH till 1am... but now they moved it to 23Aug (Sat) which is the same night as the hard ticket party. :confused3

Just saw this and came on here to ask about the lack of EMH's. We go to WDW every summer and have had at least 2 if not 3 or 4 evening EMHs at MK. And now, the only one the week we are there is the same as the Villians event at Studios and we have tix for that.

Anyone know why the lack of EMHs? :sad1:

Sorry, I didn't to imply it wouldn't impact anyone traveling in October. Just that since FP reservations hadn't been made yet, less people would care so strongly.

I'm of the opinion that once they ask people to lock things in 60 and 180 days in advance, they need to lock in at least a minimum of park hours, with the caveat they can add if needed.

Agreed - and thy should lock in EMH at least 60 days out. I almost always avoid EMH even though i stay onsite. Now I'm stuck going to a bunch of EMH parks because i have my FPs and ADRs there.... first world problem, but still annoying.

Yep, that too. :thumbsup2

Can someone please tell me where I should look to get the most accurate, up to date hours, including the changed EMH? I want to do that before I book my FP and change any reservations, but I'm not sure where the best place to look is...
