Just wondering which model/make of headphones everyone is using to run. I'm doing my speedtraining on the TM and it's soooo boring. The headphones I'm using now seem to slip out every so often and it's annoying to have to pop them back in while I'm in the middle of an interval. I'm using the Bose In-Ear headphones which are great for everything else - except running :) I'm hoping to keep the headphone purchase to under $100.

TIA!

right now I am wearing a pretty cheap set that are NOT ear buds....I have never been able to wear ear buds without them popping out or creating sores on my ears :confused3 The ones I have are kinda like earbuds on a head band. I will be getting some airdrives in the next week or so, they are supposed to allow ambiant noise while you can hear your music.

When I wore headphones I used the old stlye that went up over the head and stuck into each ear. They were $7.99 at best Buy. I no longer listen to anything when I run and have to say it makes for a much better experience. I don't get distracted by the music so I can concentrate on my form and pace the whole time and I can hear the traffic around me so I feel safer. I also love to just feel immersed in my surroundings instead of in my own world of music and distraction. To each their own though.

I would caution anyone who listens to music while running that they don't get the kind of headphones that block out the rest of the world because even if you aren't on roads with cars you never know when someone will want to pass on a bike or just run past you. Be safe out there.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll have a look in the stores on the weekend.

Frank - I don't wear headphones while running outside; only on the TM. I usually run when it's dark out so they'd be too distracting. Appreciate the heads up though :)

Charles, I have those! They are great! Thanks for the link, a month ago I thought I'd killed mine and the replacements I found I am not fond of.

I clip it on the back at the neck and keep the cord on my back so I don't ever have the cord in the way of my arms. Actually when I watch the TV at the gym it drives me nuts with the cords leading to the TV jack. But again the clip comes in handy because I can clip it up somewhat out of my way though I've still managed to catch it a pull it out of the tv jack on the TM.

I can't handle earbuds, they hurt my ears. These Sony ones don't bother me. I must have been on a TM that's jack wasn't working properly because I thought mine had bitten the dust. Went and bought another round the ear style at Target but they didn't have the clip and they kinda hurt my ear still. Oh i have them still as a back up but now that I know I can still get the Sony's I'd like to pick up a pair. My cords are all kinked up from being wound up and put in the container I use.

The Sony S2 clip in style are popular

These are designed for active wear as they are wear resistant. They loop around the ear and do not block the canal. The canal real should stay open to allow sweat to drain during the run.

When I do use them I have airdrives right now. They seem to be ok. I like that I can hear those approaching with them in. I am not certain I like the cord in the front. May look into those that Charles and Diane have commented on as a good set.

Hey vicky- i've used Sennheiser twist and lock headphones for the last year and they never fall out. Have to remove the rubber coverings though. They're very good for the price! Happy shopping

I use the Skull Candy ones that hook over the ear. The work wonders for me.

Ok this might sound crazy, but I swear I can't breathe through my nose properly when my ears are blocked. I've been wearing over the head, in the ear Sony's & 1/2 the time I end up taking them out and resting them in front of my ear instead. Or, just take them off altogether & focus on breathing & on the surroundings, which sometimes is boring, sometimes really meditative. Depends on the mood. Anyway...

I'm thinking of trying "Air"s, but I also remember reading in Runner's World about an over the head, foam type that fold in half. Anyone have any suggestions?

I got caught up running errands on the weekend so I didn't have a chance to hit the stores but DF surprised me with an early Christmas gift. He picked up a pair of Seinheiser (sp) headphones. They go around the head (I forget the model #). I'm going to give them a try on Wednesday night. Thanks again for the suggestions everyone!

I use the same ones. Love them! I always had problems with the earbuds falling out before. Not anymore:thumbsup2

When I was at the expo for Memphis, I got the best earphones ever. They're called yurbuds and they're specially fit to your ears so that they won't fall out when you work out and so that you can hear traffic over them
