We just couldn't let the year go by without visiting the origional! Planning a whirlwind trip, just wondering if the parks really are as crowded this year as I've been hearing. I can manage, but just wondering from you west coast experts if the little park is holding up well under the pressure? :earsboy:

Dave,
We just got back and it was pretty crowded and hot. We had a great time, but my 8 year old DD has cerebral palsy and sometimes the heat and crowds were a bit much for her. We certainly spent more time at the hotel then the rest of our group did. This was the first time in decades that I was there during the summer, so I can't tell you if it was worse then normal because of the 50th. My DH and I have agreed to never go during summer again!! We'll go in the fall from now on and miss the crowds! Be prepared and I'm sure you'll have a great time!!
The worst day in Disneyland is still better than the best day anywhere else!!!!! :cool1:

I just returned from a trip over July 24 to July 28. I go every summer around the same time and yes, it was crowded. Sunday was a brief visit to the park and I didn't consider it that busy. Monday wasn't bad either. 8am-11am at DL the over to DCA. DCA was practically deserted. Tuesday through Thursday were crazy days. We only lasted till 10am at DL on both days. DCA was packed as well on those days. Soaring ran out of FPs by 11:20 am each day. By the time I got there at 10:30am the return time was around 5pm - they also were running only one screen and the FP wait time was 45 minutes. Over at DL they had only one side running on splash when we were there on Thursday. FP took 25 minutes, standby was 115 minutes.
We have APs and go at least 7 times a year so it didn't really bother us. I felt bad for all the people who only make it there once a year if that.
We did get on all the rides we wanted to and had a great time. My advice would be to go before opening, wait in line at the gate, and try to get on everything as early as possible. Space fills up quick so head there first and pick up buzz FP on the way. I think if you go into it, as I did, knowing it will be crowded you won't be as frustrated by the lines.
Good luck and have fun!
