Heading to Big Thunder Mtn at RD - take the train or walk?

We always take the bridges along the water...they cut some of the distance and they avoid a lot of the foot traffic. Anytime we're heading to Splash or Big Thunder, we take that bridge...it also very useful during parade times.

Really not much scenery on that part anyway, mostly trees and a small figures scene, much better enjoyed if you are tired on the other side of the park wanting to get back to front gate to leave.

Good point - I always forget about taking the train back. Would help with the end of the night traffic down main street (the one thing my hubby HATES about the MK).

It's often not possible to ride the WDW RR at the end of an MK day.
The RR often stops operating for the evening before the fireworks.

Yep, we found this out the hard way on our last trip. We actually walked the wrong way a long ways hoping to catch the train to avoid the mayhem of Main Street during fireworks build-up. It was closed :-(

Good point, we're not usually there at that time. Usually for us its leaving for our hotel in the afternoon, and jump on Fantasyland one to head back if tired.

What are the dates? I googled but can't find it mentioned online anywhere. We like the train and it's been closed our last 2 trips.

Google doesn't show any either. I know I saw it, as did others because several of us here commented on the 3 years in a row thing. Maybe Disney changed it!!! I'll keep looking.
