Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are huge Disney fans and we got engaged during July 4th weekend in WDW at the AKL... he totally surprised me :lovestruc and now Disney is at the top of our list for wedding options.

We are heading down there next Friday to visit several of the ceremony/reception locations and then continue to explore the rest of the weekend.

We have done some research online and browsed through this board to get as much information as possible.

I'm not sure what we will end up choosing, but we're looking to do have a "fun and different" type of wedding rather than "formal". Of course, this may all change once we get down there and the planning really starts...

Any recommendations? I have read about the reception at the Great Movie Ride which we initially thought was neat but I did not get a good feel for where/if dancing is an option (which we definitely want). I have not been able to find anyone who got married there and posted pics/video online.

Thanks for all your great posts.. they have been such a help in the preliminary stages of planning.:)

Congratulations! I hope you are able to find something to suit your taste! They offer so many beautiful things, I think it's almost impossible for you to not like at least one location :p

I hope you have lots of fun checking everything out!

If you have a chance, maybe you could take some pics and report back to us how it went? It's so hard to find good pictures of the venues online.

Congratulations!

When you go for your site inspection, your SM will ask you what you have in mind for you wedding, and will suggest venues that are appropriate for you. We were also looking for something fun and different, and wanted to dance. Our SM suggested Atlantic Dance Hall, and we fell in love with that location from the moment we saw it!

You'll have so much fun at your site inspection. Besure to report back when you come back :)

you could always get married at Animal Kingdom Lodge. That's were we are getting married.

My fiance and I are also doing our Site Inspection soon...on Oct 23!! We're very, very excited!! We plan to have our ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, but we'd like the reception to be in a theme park if possible...we're so excited about seeing all of the possible locations!

Jenn

We're doing ours on Oct 23rd too!! I'm so excited. Who are you meeting with? What time?

We're meeting with Kristi at 1:30

Thanks for all your responses..

We love taking pics so we'll take as many pics of the locations as possible and then report back.

For those of you down there for site inspection, we are getting married on October 4, 2004 at the Yacht Club Gazebo and reception/dinner at Sea Breeze Point. Your welcome to "sneak a peek" at our ceremony and reception. This is a second marriage for both of us, so this will be a little more casual.

Our ceremony is at 4:00.

Good luck and have fun planning your wedding...we had a blast!

we have our site inspection scheduled with Heidi Thursday Oct 28 at 9am. We are sooooooooooo excited!! When does everyone plan on having their wedding? We are interested in 10/18/05

We're not totally sure of our date yet, we're thinking late October or early November and definitely on a weekday. Decisions, decisions, decisions!!

You can say that again!! LOL I just noticed your countdown! Everytime I see mine I get excited!! I am soooo ready to get out of Vegas!!

We're thinking 12/18/05. Hopefully it works out!

You're lucky not to be in Florida right now! Jeanne is bearing down on us pretty hard. Crossing my fingers that my car is okay outside!

Danielle- I hope everything goes okay for you and your car!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone in Jeanne's path. I'm at work right now and everyone is pulling for ya'll.::yes::

SweetPeach- do you happen to have anymore pics of the Grand floridian ballroom? we are having out reception there 6/25/05 but haven't seen it yet! and if you are still contemplating a disney wedding, we were engaged 8/31/04 during the fireworks at the MK, came home and started to look for reception sites in Boston, which were all surprisingly more expensive and not nearly as personal! our save the date packages should be coming any day now from disney!!! :Pinkbounc

I've posted a few more pics from the Grand Floridian Convention Center. During our site inspection, several of the ballrooms were being used for rehearsals so we were only able to take a few pics of the ballrooms themselves.

We're still trying to figure out our date... Had planned on late January/early Feb but doesn't seem like that's going to work.. We have an issue with guesstimating how many people will attend which affects our timing of events for the day and hitting minimums since we want to have it at Atlantic Dance Hall and end the reception after 5pm. Now looking at March options... :)
