Heading back to Princess Josie's Castle-An AKV May 22-29 PTR-TR Started 6/3!

Sooo jealous of all your stuff from the Disney store--it's all so cute! All of the ones in this area closed down a couple of years ago. Why in the world are they closing so many? :confused3
Thanks Kayce. I heard on the podcast and read in the paper that they are coming out with a new type of store this year. Supposedly they are redoing them to be more like an apple store. Supposed to be some pilot stores revealed sometime this year. Part of that rethinking was the decision to close some stores. I welcome a different store design but don't close my store!

I wish we had a disney store here, closest one is in orlando, might as well get the real stuff FROM disney then, right?? HAHA I do order online....when they have good sales and such. I hope you're having a good day so far....I work early today, thank GOD!!!

Wow, what great things you got from the Disney Store. That was a score, but I would be bummed as well if our Disney store was closing. I love it! I love the smell of it as soon as I walk in. It's like you're in Disney World.

Boy, I kinda wish I was going in May again this year too. I remember at this time last year I was starting to get everything ready, with only a few more months to go :)

Boy did you get a lot from the Disney Store! I wish we had one in my mall. I need to travel to New Orleans to get to the closest one. At least it isn't that far from me.

Pretty good day just super, super busy. If I lived as close to Disney as you do I'd be jobless and broke. :rotfl2:

You have lots of exciting stuff to keep you going. I'm really looking forward to seeing your wedding and WDW trip come together. Your venue is beautiful.

I'm getting pretty excited about our trip. After Feb 7, (when these two classes are over) I will have a little more time to plan. I am really going to miss that store. There is one in Nashville still but I hate to drive even farther south. Opry Mills is such a great mall that it was a great fit.

Wish we had a Disney Store too!!!
Hopefully these new stores will be a hit and Disney will be encouraged to open more stores rather than close them. :goodvibes

We did get a lot of stuff (and the best part is that it was very inexpensive). I haven't been to NO since I was a kid. We talk about getting down there all the time but our Disney trips get in the way. One of these days we will go somewhere else, not anytime soon though....I hope.

Hi Dis'ers! This week is going to be a little weird for me. I'm covered up with external audits and a board visit for the next couple of days making Dissing very difficult. :goodvibes I will post as soon as I can! Have a great week everyone! I think we are finally going back to school tomorrow!! :cool1: I can't believe we have missed 4 days of school (with an additional 2 days for the weekend) over an inch and a half of snow. On the planning side, Lindsey will most likely miss the last two days of school now. We had two buffer days before last week. :sad2:

I hate that the Disney Store is closing at Opry Mills!! I always loved shopping there when we were in town!! :sad2: After reading everyone else's comments, I'm very thankful that our Disney Store here in Memphis is still open!! It is only 10 minutes from my house so I'm there A LOT! The CMs know me very well!! :lmao:

You got A LOT of great things!! CUTE shirts--especially like the ones for you!! :goodvibes

Thanks Becky! You are so lucky to have a Disney Store that close. I'd probably be there all the time too if I lived that close. :goodvibes

Hey! Leanne
hope the week passes smoothly for you! It shouldn't be too bad for Lindsey to miss her last two days of school at this point (I wouldn't think), its in High School when they book exams as the last days that cause real problems.

I remember reading last year sometime that when Disney took over the Disney store line again (from Children's Palace) they were going to have to start closing stores. I didn't even know that Children's Palace was running them...that was when most of them changed from having the great decorations that they had at one time (at least ours in Metairie had changed from having the characters in the windows to posters and such). I had not heard about the new changes, yet. We lost the one in Baton Rouge last year right before Christmas :confused3. We do still have an awesome one in Gulfport at the outlet center (that is my favorite).

About, you coming to New Orleans...:rolleyes1: that sounds like a fun trip to plan for...even if it has to be a year or two from now! Danny said we can't this year (since I have so much planned already) but, next year we are going to have to plan a road trip out your way :yay:...

Have a great day and rest of the week!
:wave2: Connie

BTW: didn't make it to the mall yet...tooo cold in the house to get moving...Danny said that was silly cause it was pretty outside all day! OH! well I needed to catch up on laundry anyhow

Nah, you wouldn't be jobless and broke....you'd be AP holders and know where everything is in each park!!! I"m not an AP holder....AT THE MOMENT!!! LOL But, I do know where everything is in each park. I can tell you where the closest bathroom is, smoking area, etc. So....I'm a built in tour guide!!! I should get paid by disney!!!! LOL

Hey Leanne, I hope everything went well with the audits. I know how stressful it gets at the hospital when Joint Commission comes in. You got some excellent stuff at the Disney store. I'm jealous. I'm glad my Disney store is going OOB, but gosh I would love to have gotten more stuff. I didn't make it back over to the mall yet. I have to go do some stuff at my Mom's today so I may leave there and head out to the mall. I want another Tink shirt or 2, I just have the one I got last May and I love it.

I hope the rest of the week goes smooth.

Leanne-
That is so sad about the Disney Store near your house. I don´t have any in my area either. The one I shop at sometimes is 6 hours away all the way in Toronto!!:scared1:
I always tell my husband that I would like to open my own near my house. I don´t know if they franchise their stoers or not but I would deifinetly invest my money in it and run my own shop!:lmao:

See you,
Q

It really warmed up this weekend. We were in the 50's yesterday!:banana: My week went well. We retained our certification and it went very smooth. I will make it to NO one of these days. I did go when I was a kid, around 9 years old. We went to Jackson, TN, Natchez, then NO. It was a very cool trip. I need to go back as an adult.

Hope you're having a good weekend. Still thinking of our dear friend!

Isn't funny how some folks think that since they read websites that they're experts. Nothing beats good ole experience does it? Every time I go I discover something new or something different. I'd love to be a PAID tour guide.

Hope all is going well with your busy week!
It's going great!!!

The week went pretty well. It is really stressful. It's one of those things that could go bad and cause someone to lose a job. I got a little frustrated with one group in our facility but I'm getting over it. I'm responsible for about 98% of what is audited and the other 2% is always where issues occur. It really comes down to the fact that you can't fix stupid. Sounds harsh but it is what it is. A lot of folks (including myself) have tried to help this group but they just don't want to help themselves. Sad. Hope you're having a great weekend!

Hi Q! I found out that the other store is Nashville is closing also...in April. :scared1: Apparently Disney is closing 27 stores in the coming months. I don't know if they franchise or not. It would be a wonderful place to own though. :goodvibes

Hi Rosie!!!

I have been thinking a lot this morning about all of our trips and how our plans always change once we get to the world for various reasons. I devour all things Disney but the websites, podcasts, and books can only give you so much. The people that offer this information do not know you or your family and can only predict things. Sometimes even Disney doesn't know what will be happening on any given day. With respect to WDW and vacation plans, personal experience is invaluable.

The following is a list of items that have adjusted our plan each year we have visited:

1) in 2009 I didn't expect record level rain because accuweather nor weather.com expected it. The rain prompted a lot of indoor character meets, rudeness in guests, and the ability/desire to visit indoor attractions we would normally dismiss. I also didn't expect to meet so many great DIS friends....definitely a highlight.

2) In 2008 I didn't expect an impromptu character meet would cause me to miss an ADR because it was so magical (all ears, the DIS, nor Steve Soares told me I would be meeting these characters in this location)

3)In 2007 I never expected our bus to breakdown or the weather to be so beautiful that we were able to stay at the parks and not need rests. I also was advised that the castle package at BBB wasn't worth it. Despite the advice, I booked it anyway. Let me tell you, the look on Lindsey's face and her excitement when her FGM opened the door to the dressing room with her dress, wand, shoes, and tiara laid out before her was PRICELESS. Josie had the same reaction in 2009. I will continue to pay the $100 extra despite the opinions of those who hadn't, in most cases, even experienced the full package. :confused3 You can't put a price on the memories we've made with a complete princess makeover in the most magical place on earth. That's just MY opinion and still brings tears to my eyes as I type this. :goodvibes

4) In 2006 I didn't expect record level crowds and heat because touring plans nor weather.com expected it. Because of the heat the characters were all over the place and not where the Times Guide, the DIS, nor All Ears told me I could find them. For example, we met Snow White & Dopey, Belle & the Beast, and Aurora in the courtyard to the UK when the Times Guides said Germany and France. :confused3 It was great though because most people couldn't find them, there was NO line, and they spontaneously got together for a group photo with my girls. If it weren't on my external hard drive I'd post it...it's really special. :goodvibes

5)In 2003 I didn't expect the crowds to be so low that we did everything and actually got the chance to check out Sea World

6)In 1999 we didn't expect our extended family trip to be affected so much by waiting on others and illness

7)In 1987 I didn't expect to only ride 4 or 5 attractions per day due to crowds. We didn't even travel during peak season.

I could go on and on because I too scour websites, the boards, religiously listen to podcasts etc. I use this information to put together a game plan but I have learned (the hard way) that ALL plans will be revised when you get to the park. THAT is the real magic of Disney. Something unexpected can happen almost any time, almost any where. No two people will have the same exact experience. That's why we keep going back. :goodvibes

That last post actually brought me to tears...everything you said is so true. Going to Disney and planning is like planning everything in life...I think sometimes God points and laughs at us and secretly says.."I'm the only one really in charge here".

When you talked about the package at BBB and the look on their faces, no amount of money can ever buy that. The first year we went Jasmine was 6 and to be honest I was single mom, my income alone, no support coming in, and it took so much discipline to even be able to scrape together enough for 7 days. We didn't dine in any TS restaurants it was CS all the way and a lot of that was shared....but despite all of that I would never again see the magic like I did through the eyes of a six year old. It didn't matter that I couldn't afford a princess dress for her the morning we actually walked up and got into CRT for breakfast....but it was ok, we saw the princesses. My sis and Geodoc were with us and she kicks herself to this day that they didn't buy her a dress.

None of it matters, the fact that we are blessed enough to even go, pictures, memories, laughter, and sometimes tears make some of the best times in our lives.

Your post brightened my day, thank you for it.

That was beautifully written. Also made me teary. I appreciate the help/advice of those who have been there not a website or travel agent. I also know that no 2 families are alike. What works for some may not for others. Does not make it bad-just different.
I think you have sold me on the BBB package for C. A still wants to bring her Belle dress.
I think one of my best memories from last trip was hanging out with you at the play area under BTMR with J and C while the guys took L and A on BTMR. Also the first night after the parade when we ran arounf FL like crazy people. People and events make the trip, not the plans!
:cool1::banana::love::hug::yay:
