We are headed to DL this summer from NY and will be flying Jetblue. Which airport is best and does Alamo have a lot at the airport for car rentals??

We are making our first trip to DL from NY this summer as well! Flying Jet Blue from JFK to Long Beach, direct flights. We aren't sure yet if we will need a rental car of if we will just use one of the shuttle services (Super Shuttle, maybe??)

Curious to hear what others have to say?

We are flying into Long Beach from Boston. We did LAX once, the last trip we were on different flights, I flew into LAX my dh and kids flew into Long Beach. My dh loved Long Beach so we are heading there again. We are renting a car. Long Beach is a very small airport, it was great for my dh by himself with 3 kids. According to him we will not go back to LAX, which is just so busy!

SNA- Santa Ana is the best and closest to DL. I think approx 10-12 miles. It's also not a bigger airport and its fairly easy to navigate...of course that's coming from someone who's use to SeattleTacoma Airport- yikes!

Whatever you do- avoid LAX. It just sucks and the people are rude. But of course that's my own opinion.:thumbsup2

As far as car rental goes- it couldn't be easier. Once you get off the plane and get your bags at baggage claim, you go down the escalator/elevator and all the car rental counters are downstairs. From there you go out the big sliding glass doors, walk across the street to the parking garage and depending on which rental company you use- you go to their location. They do not bring the car up to you (at least Enterprise doesn't) and its hot and smelly down there, lots of gas fumes! I would highly suggest sending DH to pick up the car while you wait downstairs by the rental counters, there's lots of places to sit and wait comfortably.

We're flying from EWR to LAX. We got a car through Priceline. $16/day for a midsize car for 9 days. It's pretty good as I was finding economy cars for at least $16/day. I think the company that accepted our offer was Avis. We're definitely pleased.

We just flew into LAX and rented from Alamo -they had THE best prices on a 2week rental for us. It was a short 5min shuttle ride - the rest was easy peasy.
