headaches....

First let me say I do feel your pain. I am headache plaqued as well;)...

2 years ago I was waking up every morning with a headache :(..it got so bad that I didnt want to fall asleep. I went to the dr.. she said by my sympoms sounded like a sinus infection. I too the antibotics and nothing really changed. They did sinus xrays and a ct of sinus..nada..

Then it dawned on me..for 6 months previous. I found that I clenched my teeth/jaw when I slept. I dont know why and couldnt stop it. I often wondered if that was what was causing those daily morning headaches, the earaches, face pain. I went to the dentist and told him of my concerns. He wasnt certain that was it as I dont have the typical TMJ sympoms, but he said it sounded like these pains I was having were from the clenching. He made me one of those occulsal appliances. I can tell you, that thing cut down drastically on my morning headaches, my earpain went away as well as my face pain.
I still suffer from migraines( My mom and brother have them), but those wake up in the morning headaches have decreases by 75%.

I found that chewing gum gives me headaches, as well as chewing anything chewy like tootsie rolls.

I am just trying to give you maybe another possibile problem with your headaches.

Hope you find relief soon.

I feel your pain :headache:

Keeping a log is a great idea, it will really help you and your doc figure out what is going on. On that log make sure you write down things like what/when you are eating and drinking, activities you are doing at all times of the day, type and location of your pain and any other little symptoms your body may be sending out to you.

In the mean time, have you tried Head-On (you know that stuff with the annoying commercial "apply directly to the forehead")? It works pretty well for me, its worth giving it a shot. Also have you been trying different types of pain relievers? Like advil vs. tylenol. Sometimes I get rebound headaches from too much of one and by taking just a dose of the other it can kick it (sometimes not of course)

I too have had headaches for years. I've had just about every test under the sun, most of which found nothing at all. The one test that found a little something was when I had a 3 hour glucuose test done it showed my blood sugar drops quite a bit. I try to watch what I eat and I still get headaches quite often. I've also been to ENT's (had my sinuses cleared via surgery), neurologists (several), rheumotologists (several - I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and the treats just made it worse), chiropractors, physical therapists, nutritionists...

I could have written this myself also. I have had headaches almost daily for 3-5 years now. I have had 2 MRIs. I have a brain, they could not confirm it was working, but they did say it was normal (sort of, I had some "spots" on my brain but they are not the cause of my headaches). Anyway, I am a big believer in drinking water and taking multi-vitamins. My Dr is sending me for more blood tests. She thinks I may be deficient in some vitamins or minerals and will need additional suppliments.

I also go to a Chiropractor now and get adjustments every other week. It has helped tremendously! I had to cancel an appt 2 months ago and with my end of the school year schedule, I wasn't able to reschedule until the end of June. I could definately feel the difference and I had my first migraine since college. (my insurance is great, adjustments are covered except for a co-pay. I also get a 1 hr massage immediately before or after the adjustment and it is covered as 1 visit for the same co-pay. It is a nice treat)

There are so many reasons for headaches that you really need to see a Dr to rule things out. Also, migraines can be hereditary. Many of my Aunts and Uncles and their kids all suffer from migraines. My oldest DS has them too and is on medicine to help. His neurologist had us do a food diary and a headache diary for a month to try to figure out triggers. Maybe you should start this now and see if you see any triggers. At least it would be helpful to give your Dr.

Good luck. I hope you find something that works for you.
