who didn't realize you could rip photos like white core cardstock??? I ripped it against my paper trimmer so that it would be a "controled" rip so to speak. Anyone know who to exaggrate it more??

okay partically answered my own question....you can scrape your scissors against it... other suggestions??

Well, I didn't even know you could do that. I'm not quite over cropping my photos, I don't know when I would have gotten to this stage of deconstruction.

It looks really cool though. Does sandpaper or an emory board work?

sandpaper is good, get some tearing rulers, those work great. I tore and inked the edges of this picture of the dino bones.

thanks Buffy I have two tearing rulers and I could NEVER get them to work right I guess I just need some practice. I like the ink too and have though about it for other photos but this one and the group of otehrs definatly I wanted to leave the white.

AWM can you believe I am such not the girlie girl I don't think there is an emory board in my house LOL..... mind you I actually have awesome long nails.... they are just naturally that way.

I never thought to try this either. Looks great. And I've always wondered about those tearing rulers. I have one and it doesn't work right for me either.

I don't do nails either. But mine are so horrible weak that they split all the time. If I didn't file off the rough edges, I'd chew them off because I can't stand it.

Wow, I can't believe I just admitted that in public.

:rotfl: :rotfl:

i'm not laughing at you i'm laughing with you....mine are the very same way!!!!
that sentence just reminded me of me!!!!!:rotfl:

My nails are exactly the same. So weak and flexible that I have to file them in self defense. I'll make you feel better AWM - I chew my cuticles! :scared: Oh the horror!

On a different topic, I usually can't get the tearing ruler thing to work either. All that changed when I tried the new CM tearing ruler. It is MUCH sturdier and seems to work much better than the other ones I've tried. I usually just wing it and tear randomly.

I can't belive the control maven in me allowed me to admit that.

Nail biter raises her hand. :wave2:
It is the one bad habit I kept from childhood, but I also have to keep them short because I scratch my arms and legs in my sleep.

Nail bitter here too...and the reason is because the thought of the nail file (sandpaper) rubbing across my nails is like nails on a chalkboard for me.. ERRR! I use them when I need to but I really don't like them!

Hmmm, the thread went from tearing photos to biting nails. I'm raising my hand too, oops no, don't want anyone to see my chewed off finger nails!

I love the tearing photos idea - I never would have thought of it. Thanks a lot MLP!

hmm yes certainly a turn for the ummmm..... anyway :) I did my page and I am happy with it. I kinda had to do it to get it done. I tore all the photos like that and used some "sand" parts I had ripped off of other photos to make squares for the title to read beach. I wanted to be more razzle dazzle with the page so to speak, but instead it is quite simple, however I think that make the tearing made more of a statement so to speak.... anyway off to go appreciate my nails LOL

okay actually a question did all you nail biters bite your babies nails? My mother keeps telling me to do that for the baby instead of trimming... no offense but NOOOOO WAAAAYYYY I'll just wait until she is asleep and use trimmers.

OK, that's just disgusting (and if anyone does it, sorry) :rotfl:

I did try. But the thought of perhaps it tearing off too close to the quick *shudder*, well, we just used clippers when they were sleeping.

My health visitor said to do it with your teeth because you could tell more easily if you were close to the quick, and just nibble a bit at a time. I let DH do it ;)
