DH and I are going to take a long weekend trip in 2008 and I was thinking about Feb. or March (I'm leaning toward March b/c I would imagine it would be a little warmer??) and I was just looking for fellow DISers who have travelled during this time of year.

What kind of weather can I expect - warm or cold (like hoody and jean temps. or hat, coat, and gloves temps?)

What are the crowds like??

Any other tidbits of important info???

Thanks in advance - sorry if this is a duplicate posting ;)

My daughter and I went from Feb 28 to Mar 4 and stayed at Pop Century. We had a great time. The weather was mixed it turned out mostly good although the forcasters kept calling for storms. We had low 80s most of the trip. One cold drizzley night (sweater and poncho worked fine). The last day was cool and comfortable (low 60s with sun). Morning crowds were nonexistant. We got to all parks at opening and had our run of them for roughly 3 hours. Mid day crowds were fairly large. Nights were in the middle.
Have fun.

Depending on when you go in March the weather may vary greatly...and so may the corwds. The later in March the more spring breakers you will face...

Yep, some southern states have spring break as early as mid-March. I know we did when we lived in Dallas. We've been in Dec and Jan before and loved it. Usually you get nice weather...cool morning and evenings and warm days. On occasion you have a cool front and that humid cold is soooo COLD, ugh!

What about weather and crowds for 2008 ESPN Weekend. We are arriving 2/29 until 3/5...

There the split week of Feb and March the last 2 years, both where great trips. Weather in the 70 low 80 in the daytime and low 60 high 50 at night. Will go again at this time. Very little or none rain.

We did February last year - over President's Day weekend no less - because of a softball tournament for my daughter. It was VERY crowded, and the weather was REALLY cold (they had to delay a game because there was too much frost on the field. Yikes!). This was not usual, of course, but I've been down in March, too, and while the mornings and evenings were cooler, the days were great. I'd aim for March ...:cool1:

Spring break starts as early as Feb for colleges.
This year Easter is in March, so the earlier you go the better. I expect all of March to be really busy.

We went March 4th last year and the first day we had to wear winter coats. But it warmed up as the week went on. I had read somewhere that last year was a bit colder than usual. I would say go early Feb or late April to avoid the crowds this year.

I was looking at the crowd chart on UG for 3/11- 3/13 (middle of the week) and there was a 9 out of 10 for crowds listed on those days.. Sooooo, that bummed me out a little, and value rooms were 120 a night, so that's a peak fee IIRC
