OK, I used to lurk here hoping for a Disney wedding someday. When I met my boyfriend and he had never been to Disney I flushed the idea. Now HE is the one that has suggested getting married at Disney. :lmao: So, while we haven't set a date yet I have a couple questions so I can be batting this around in my head.

Can I do an Escape wedding with 18 people but have a reception at Disney for 50 +/- people? I have read that guests can get discounted hotel and ticket prices? How much? Is it only for a hotel we pick or could the discount be used at any Disney hotel they want to stay at? Would the people invited to the reception but not the wedding be able to get the discount? Is it for the night before the wedding, night of the wedding, length of stay? How does the pricing thing work? I saw online there is a minimum amount you have to spend depending on when you schedule the wedding but is that a mix and match or do you get the base package and everything else is extra?

Thanks in advance.

If you are planning on having DFTW plan your reception, then the answer is no. It's a 20 guest max for ceremony and reception.

However, you can have your reception at one of the restaurants and not plan it through DFTW and have as many people as you want there!

The wedding room and ticket discounts are for dates around your wedding. So people can arrive a few days before and stay after if they want to. Although most of my guests booked the general public discount which was much better.

For the Escape weddings, there is a base price that includes the ceremony venue, flowers for the couple, the cake, photographer and photos, violinist and champagne. If you want to add a reception, then you have a minimum expenditure and it can be anything from upgrades to your flowers and/or cake, adding bridal portrait sessions, reception for your guests, etc.

Some brides have found that their wedding wish list added up close to the minimum spending for Wishes weddings (probably how they came up with the name!) and would upgrade. That gives you the option of inviting as many guests as you would like and your venue can accommodate.

Thsi is what I'm planning on doing as well, a small wedding with 18 and then a reception for 50.
I will be doing a dessert party at GF but going through Disney Catered Events so you don't have to worry about how many people and adding costs. At the GF Sago Cay, you have to have a $500 minimum for food and bev and a $75 set up fee. YOu can have the Wishes music piped in for $500 but I personally won't be doing that.
I was thinking of doing a reception in a restaurant but for my budget, it was just too much. I have a thread on here about a dessert party at the GF and it is possble to stay lose to the $500.
I am also thinking of having a "real" reception in a banquet room at Shades of Green, Disney's military hotle. If you have a military connection, look them up. They will send you all of their pricing and thy are so cheap! I was thinking of getting married there, too but I decided I really wanted a Dsiney wedding.
