Ok here it goes, I want to first thank all the people on this Forum for providing invaluable information on our first visit to BCV.:D I will try to answer several questions that I have read on these boards over the last 2 months.

First off, we are new members to DVC, and just got back from our first stay in our home resort of BCV. We purchased 350 points for our family of 6. DH and DW have triplets, DS, DS, DD, 6 years old and DD 3++ years old. So as you will see, we have to be really flexible DVCers.

As we entered the Beach Club parking lot, I was excited to see how beautiful the BCV were. After looking at all the pictures on this forum, I was struck by how close the Beach Club was to BCV.

We had a 2 bedroom dedicated room on the courtyard side behind Ariel's statue. I was struck by how quiet it was on this side of the building. The balconies on the second floor are quite large. I originally thought from the pictures that you could walk the length of the building on the second floor, but this is not the case. Our balcony encompassed all three rooms and was quite long. The second bedroom had a queen sized bed and a fold out sofa. This was OK being that my children are so young, but asked the CM if all the rooms were like this. I was told that there was a mistake by the supplier and that eventually all of the two bedroom dedicated will be converted to two queen beds in the future. :D

The bathroom shower in the master is really quite large and worked out well with our kids when they got out of SAB. We got a real chuckle out of the toilets, cause when you flush them, it sounds like something taking off from Tomorrowland. Make sure the little ones hang on!!! There is just one iron in the Master bedroom and the only complaint I had was the washer and dryer can be quite noisey. This is not a problem for me, cause I can't remember the last time I had a sound night sleep in the last 6 years. I will leave the rest of the room report to DW.

SAB alone sealed the deal for us with the ages of the kids. With all the discussion on the crowds because of pool hopping, I can say that the crowds were quite manageable with the new room key checking system. They give you a colored armband which is changed to a new color every day. The two foot deep pool with the sand bar, was perfect for the little one's and I broke down and bought two of the lifetime refill mugs from Beaches and Cream. One nice feature of the pool location, is that you can walk almost the whole distance from the BCV to SAB either through the Beach Club, or further through the Yacht Club. We found this to be a plus when it got extremely hot, or when it began to rain.:(

I'm tired of all the complaining about the walk to Epcot. Remember, I have 6 year old triplets and a 3 year old. We walked this with no problem. Just to mix it up though, you can walk to the lighthouse and take the boat to Epcot. We had no problem taking the buses to Animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom.
I had read about some of the concerns about overcrowding, but this was not the case for us. The buses pick up at the Yacht Club first, then us at the Beach Club, and then on to the Boardwalk Villas, until going to the parks. This is an easy way to go to the Boardwalk Villas, but you have to return via the boat returning from Epcot. You can also take the Boat to the Boardwalk Villas via the MGM Boat. Just ask the Captain. Boarwalk Villa's Lobby was really cool. I really enjoyed this due to the fact that I grew up in Jersey. I must say that during our stay, this was the only place that we could find anything decent that said Disney Vacation Club. There wasn't anything to speak of other than a
t-shirt and a hat with BCV on it. We checked out OKW,DD too and nothing. We did hear that there is a bunch of new stuff coming from the warehouse, so maybe this info is outdated.:D

My only diappointment with our whole trip, was that there was no one there to say Welcome Home:( I was told though, that all the bugs are not worked out yet, and this will probably be remedied. All in all, I hope I live long enough to kill the lease and explore all the ins and outs of the World. It's great to be a kid again!!!:jester:

The most important thing for me is efficiancy otherwise we would never get to the parks in time. Some things we did in order to expedite our unpacking and setup are as follows. Minimize the amount of clothes you bring and take advantage of the washer/dryer in the room. I put a load of laundry in every evening and put it in the dryer in the AM. Also, everyone can enjoy eggs, bacon and toast in the AM. I cook 2 packs of bacon upon arrival, and place it in a ziplock bag, then microwave it when I need it. Remember that those of you who do not have a stove can also microwave eggs in a microwave poacher soled at every grocery store.
Also, because we drove, we had the luxury of bringing a cooler with drinks, hotdogs, condiments, bacon, butter...etc. I also took advantage of preordering via the BCV grocery list and had them deliver it--this saved me a great deal of grief and I never needed to go to a grocery store. Please don't overbuy on groceries. We ate all breakfasts in and went out for one meal each day. Food portions at the restaurants are massive and we
brought the leftover kid meal food home. The leftovers were enough for another meal at times. If your kids eat more than mine--order 1-2 additional kid meals at the restaurant for $6 each and use them to feed your kids at another time.
Because our kids are so young, we fed them some dinners in and then later ordered a meal for ourselves from room service. We found the prices for room service were reasonable costing an average of $50 for two. Also, we had a portable collapsable cooler to bring to SAB with drinks and snacks for the kids. We refilled those lifetime mugs at Beaches & Cream and this alone paid for itself.
About the room. It was beautiful and everything worked fine. The only problem I saw was the metal spatula with the teflon pans. The pans will become destroyed--I already told the CM. It was very nice to see a DVD player and did you know you can get free DVD movies from the Atlantic store in Beach Club if you are DVC members!!

All in all, we had a great time in our new home!!!

Thanks for the thoughtful report... and...

<marquee>WELCOME HOME!!</marquee>

hi: thanks for the great report! don't worry about the "welcome home"; i'm sure the cms at bcv will do a much better job than the ones at bwv. the only welcome home i've gotten there over the last half dozen trips was once from the gate guard. okw really has that part down pat by now. we'll have to give the cms at bwv just a little longer to catch up. i'm glad to know that it's nice and quiet at bcv if we want a change of pace from bwv.

Thanks for the tip on the potties. My DD who is 6 just got over her fear of public bathrooms (because of how loud the toilets are when flushed). For about a year and 1/2, we had to limit our time out in the public because she wouldn't use a public bathroom that had several stalls because she couldn't control when others flushed. Now, at least, she'll use a public bathroom, but has to leave the stall before letting me flush. So this info about the toilets will prepare us and I can let her know in advance what to expect.

Also, which room # did you have? Sounds like the perfect area for my gang of 6.

Welcome Home and Thanks for a great report. It sounds like you had a wonderful vacation. :)

Thanks for the great report. We aren't able to stay at BCV until January, and can't wait. Just as an FYI, there have been many rumors about those lifetime mugs not being lifetime very soon.  . If you have any proof that they are for lifetime it might be worth saving it. ;) ;)

Thanks again......Johnnie

I have noticed your point about the metal spatulas too. I guess they really don't expect anyone to actually USE the cookware. They were probably surprised that you noticed! Diana

WELCOME HOME!

It's been great to read the reports of this newest addition to DVC.

The atomic toilets are in OKW and VWL too.

Thanks for the trip report and welcome to the dis!

Thanks for the info. great report. Didn't know they finally put non-stick pans in the units...Will save me from dragging along my own pan when we try the villa's out in December!

Great report..thanks for sharing!

RX MAN,

Thanks for the report..............and........."Welcome Home"!!!!!

What part of Cleveland are you from? Brother lives in Brecksville.

Thank you for the report on the BCV. We are new DVCers too, and our first trip home won't be until next May - it is a looonnnggg wait. I am glad that you had so many positive things to report. And if they didn't remember to say it, we certainly can say..."Welcome Home!"

the metal spatula with the teflon pans

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Teflon? Did you say Teflon? :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc LOL!

It sure would be nice if they put the non-stick pans in all the DVC's. Then DVC would be perfect. ;) ;)

Thank you both for a very informative report. It sounds like you enjoyed your stay and have found a great set-up for your wonderful family to enjoy vacations for years to come.

RxMan, you mention something about being disappoined that there was only one iron? How many irons do you have at home? LOL! In the future, if you needed to have more than one (so you can both iron at the same time, maybe?) I'm sure a call to housekeeping would bring you a second one to use during your stay. The same is true of anything you're missing. Call housekeeping and see if it's possible for them to provide it.

Here are the answers to your follow up questions:

VickiVM - We stayed in room #207.

JohnnieFedora - We were told by a CM at Beaches and Cream that the lifetime mugs are indeed lifetime for the time being. (Oxymoron) I did see other mugs from previous years.

ncligs - I live in No. Royalton which is right next to Brecksville so you can tell your brother "Howdy Neighbor" for me.

While I'm here, I want to make a point about the thermostats and motion detector in the Master Bedroom. I did notice that whenever we left the room for an extended period of time, the fans were all turned off and the airconditioning was off. It only took about 10 minutes to cool everything down when we returned. I figured everything is tied into the motion detector to save on $$$. I didn't get freaked out by the motion dector like I heard from other DVCers. Actually, I thought it was hysterical that it was in the Master Bedroom.bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
