Hey disney vets. I have a DS 2 1/2 and DD4. We are going in Sept and I have never done either Mickey's BBQ or the HDDR. The BBQ sounds more up my kids ally, but the HDDR gets all these incredible reviews. Will my kids actually sit for it. They absolutely love to dance, but the absolutely hate to sit still. Which would you do or would you splurge and do them both? Also, about how long does the BBQ go--does it get out in time for the camp fire???

Thanks for the help. I'm back in planning mode.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

HDDR is about an hour and a half long and you pretty much have to sit still at the show. If your children like the characters, Mickey's BBQ might be better for you this time around. They can see the characters and walk, dance, and jump around as much as they like. You can try the HDDR next trip. Have fun!

I have not been to mickey's backyard BBQ and want to try it.

The Hoop dee do rev is awsome. There is a lot of activity all the time I think the kids would be well intertained. They bring the show down into the audience. In fact there is a lot of aud. participation. My father and I got choosen to participate. It was so much fun. The show it great. Lots of laughing, clapping, hooten and hollering. The food is great. From the time you walk in the waitress is bringing platters of food to the table. Be sure to come ready to eat. If the kids don't like whats being served then the waitress will bring something else for the kids. We got family pictures before going in. When I look back at the pictures I get excited about going back to DW. We just had a great time. My kids are 9,4,3. They all had a blast.

If you choose HDDR , have a great time is you go the MBB BBQ then do tell when you get back. Like I said I'm interested in that too. :)

I think your DD would LOVE HDDR, even if she usually has ants in her pants...now, DS2.5 might have a harder time sitting still/paying attention for 1.75 hours...only you can know him and how he'll probably react. It is VERY entertaining, lap-slapping hilarious, though, designed for the whole family, and he might enjoy at least parts of it!:sunny: Lots of music and dancing to watch, washboards to play (everyone gets one).

I've never done BBQ, but think it would be GREAT for kids that age. Don't think of these 2 events as mutually exclusive, though. They are geographically close, but not at all similar. I would decide based on what other character meals you're doing and your time limitations.

We took our 4 year old to the BBQ last Spetember and it was one of the best nights of our trip! We all had a great time and my son fell in love with the band! My only wish is that we drove because we waited a VERY long time for the busses to come! You have to take three . One that takes you to the main parking lot and then you wait for the one to take you to DownTown Disney and then on to your resort. But we had such a good time at the BBQ that it was worth it:crazy: It is a must on the next trip! Hope that helps:wave:
