I booked 180 days out on Monday. Today I was going to add the HDD dinner show.. We are now 177 days ahead of this.. There is only a 7:15 available.. No 5 PM.. when asking my DD6 about a rest she begged and begged to go back.. so I thought okay you get it, cheaper, free beer.. why not?..

1) I had Cape May planned as DH will be arriving 2 days late and he is allergic to shell fish.. so a solo date is the only chance I get for it. Should I just wash my hands of HDD.. and say Kid your getting my fav food in the whole world
or

2) Call Disney back to figure out what is up.. There must be an error.. keep calling. I waited on hold like 10 mins and gave up..

I am looking for the date of 08-26 (I also tryied 08-25 but due to flying in this day I prefer the other but cold settle.) I cannot afford 2 dats with my DD6 that is way too much, before DH gets there.

NOTE THIS IS FREE DINING SEASON, but I am paying there is not even showing 1s available and they are not on dining plan.. though 3 would be pref. I think 7:15 is just too late... Note they are showing ONLY 7:15 1s and 3 avail, but 5:15 is so much better.

I would book the 7:15 and keep checking online every day to see if tables open up at the earlier time. I know you say it is too late but it's only one day out of the year (can she take a nap that day or get up late to compensate?)

I wouldn't bother calling-they have the same online reservation system that we do online. I really believe that they only open up a certain amount of tables at a time and you'll likely be able to get something for 2 people if you keep trying.

I just looked to see if there was availability for your date/time. I just changed my reservation last night which is in 36 days and had availability and I was surprised to see that you weren't able to get a res. Anyhow, it comes up as "Sorry, there was an error when searching for availability. Please make sure your time is valid and try again." not the usual "There is no availability" (which believe me I have been seeing for Chef Mickey's). I've heard that if there weren't a lot of reservations that they would combine shows but this is pretty early to determine there isn't enough interest for 3 shows. I think there's something wrong & I would call. Just my 2cents!

I will take both sets of advice I am booking the 7:15 and calling..

The reason I wanted 5 was to make rope drop the next AM, she gets cranky, but we'll try and nap/rest earlier that day.

I had the same problem trying to book HDD online. I ended up calling and there was availabilty for the 5pm show. The CM I spoke too had no idea why the error message was popping up. I booked it for August 30.

I booked it.. and called. They said dining has been up and down and to call back in an hour..
:confused3

I am totally satisfied with the 7:15 show after thinking about it. A nap/pool afternoon and a late (well late for a DD6) is just perfect. (2nd of coarse to getting the 5 PM show.)

TY All. I will let you know when I call back if it works out at 5 too.

I booked it last Sunday for 8/23(my son's 17th bday) and it showed no 5pm also. I booked the 7:15 reluctantly. After some thought I am happier with the 7:15 then if we had gotten the 5.. gives me more time in the parks and a for sure go back to the resort when it's done!

I was able to get 5 PM. (After calling) Which I think is better with my 6 yr. I think 7:15 would have been fine too.. but 5 will get her in bed for rope drop the next day :)

TY ALL!

We did 7:15, even though I really had wanted 5, and I am very glad. It let us have a couple hours in the MK before we took the boat over to FW on our first day....the only thing I want to caution folks is to realize that there are no boats running back to the MK after 8 pm, so when you get out, you will need to take the boat to the Contemporary, then take the Monorail to the TTC if you need to get back to a resort that isn't on the Monorail circuit. A lot of people after our HDDR show were staying at POR and they were MAD that they had been told the boats ran until 9. We had our car at the TTC so it wasn't so bad for us, but some folks were really inconvenienced. I found out later there were resort busses after the 7:15 show but at the time the CM I asked had told us that there were only resort busses after the 9 pm show and that the boats ran till then. So if you wind up going at 7:15 make sure you have your transportation worked out ahead of time :) and know what you need to do, lol.

I wonder if thats true even when the MK is open til 1am, are there still no boats that late from the campground?

The boats from the campground will run to/from the MK until I believe an hour or so after park closing, so the transportation options after HDDR back to the MK do vary with time of year/park closing, the resort to resort boats (which run the route between Contemporary/Fort Wilderness/Wilderness Lodge) do run later some nights (say when the MK closes at 8).
