The CM making my dining reservation kinda has me worried about the HDD on my birthday. I mentioned that it was going to be my birthday that evening and she asked if she could make a note on the reservation. I said yeah and she went on about how they really make a fuss over folks celebrating birthdays. She put us in Cat. 1. I asked for Cat 2 and she said it wasn't available. We're going to the 9:30 show so we can use the DDE for a discount. I'm not one who likes to draw public attention. Is this going to really embarass me or should I just have a couple of drinks and go with the flow? What should I expect? (We've (DH39, ME39 and DD9)never done the HDD before.) Thanks!

No, it is not a big deal. The actors will go to each table and tell the crowd "Sally is having a birthday today and she is 40!" It's usually pretty quick and very MINIMAL embarrassment to the guest. I think they also bring you a cake out with the dessert.

From my experience it doesn't matter if they note it on your reservation. Twice we've had birthdays noted on our reservation and both times they made an announcement when we checked in to let them know if you were celebrating a birthday that day. We didn't say anything at check in since our birthdays were other days of the week. We weren't called on at all when they did the birthdays.

They will call on you if ya have someone who raises their hand, they will ask your age sometimes where your from and sing happy birthday to everyone that day.
