HBD or Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic Pkgs?

We currently have a Fantasmic reservation for May for H&V, at 5pm. However, after reading all the negative reviews about H&V, I'm a little concerned about going. It looks as more Fantasmic reservations are now available for our travel dates, including one for Holllywood Brown Derby, at 1:30. So my question is, would you choose H&V for dinner (and use only 1 TS credit), or HBD for lunch, and use up 2 TS credits?

Have eaten twice at H&V for dinner on the Fan. package. Don't know what possessed me to try it the second time!!! :sad2:Awful is putting it kindly. If you are really determined to get the package (and why wouldn't you;) by all means go with the HBD lunch package. Yes its signature, but if you want to eat at DHS I think it's totally worth it

we've been to H & V twice and will not return. Food just OK, service terrible. And very loud restuarant (all Disney places seem loud, because they pack the people in, but the tile/chrome decor combination really seems to make it twice as loud in there.)

We loved Brown Derby for lunch...we thought it was worth 2 TS credits (especially on the Fantasmic package because on the regular dining plan you get appetizer/entree/dessert/beverage with the package...even though you ordinarily would not get the appetizer, you do for this!:thumbsup2)

While it is hard to use 2ts credits HBD is good. Service is slow but they are very thought and if you do not like something they are quick to offer to replace it with something else. Kids really liked it even though it was a long meal without characters.

Brown Derby for sure. H&V is one of those few places that we will not return. We went for lunch 1 time and ewwwwww...the whole family agreed on that statement (which is rare indeed).

How old are your kids? If your kids are the right age, I'd suck it up and just do it at H&V because it's only 1TS and they'll enjoy the characters (assuming you're doing it before the dinner hour when the characters will be out). But, if your kids are older and not likely to enjoy the characters, then I'd absolutely spend the extra TS and go to HBD.

Kids are 5 and 8. I think they would take it or leave it with characters. Also, I don't think they even have characters at H&V for dinner anyway. Based on everyone's comments, I think I'll suck it up and use 2 TS credits for Brown Derby.

Brown Derby has a nice atmosphere and decent food. The meal there takes 2 hours minimum. (at least dinner does)

Hollywood and Vine has had the best service in all of Walt Disney World for 2 trips in a row (a week long each). The food is hot and decent and you are in and out of there in less than an hour. The kids loved the selections they had there and the atmosphere is fun and very relaxed.

I wouldn't waste 2 TS on the Brown Derby with the ages of your kids.

Agree with other posters, H&V was the worst buffet we have ever had at Disney. We will not be returning there again. Did you consider Mama Melrose's or is that not available.

I'd likely forgo the F! pkg and try to go standby before eating at HV again.

But on the other hand HBD is overpriced - not terribly if paying oop, but definatley if using 2 ddp credits for the meal.

Of the 3, MM is the best, but you indicated not available - keep checking back as people double book and cancel alot - last year for instance it wasn't available to us at first but we eventually got a cancellation.

Tough choice, but I think if definately committed to a F! pkg and using ddp credits I'd have a harder time turning over 2 credits for HBD than returning to HV.
