So I'm moving forward with making ADR's in hopes that we can still make it to Disney in October.

Question...should we spend 2 dining credits on Brown Derby our HS day or go to DTD mid-day and try Fultons or take the boat to the boardwalk and try FF for 2 credits?? I'm stuck! OR 50's PTC?

If you're looking for a signature restaurant, skip Brown Derby and choose Flying Fish. Brown Derby is good for a theme park restaurant, but Flying Fish is consistently fantastic.

FF is the best restaurant of the that group. The food is excellent.

Are you looking for a signature restaurant? Do you want to stay in DHS? I like Brown Derby. I also wouldn't be willing to travel to the FF, but that's just us. For my family, we only spend 3/4 of the day at DHS. We have breakfast and lunch there then leave after the parade. I guess it really depends on your plans for that day. Are you staying within the area? If you're going to take a midday break then I'd dine at FF or Yachtsman's Steakhouse then return to DHS.

For us, we always have breakfast at 8am at H&V then a 12 noon lunch at either Sci-Fi or 50's. I've found that lunch has to be at 12 in order to catch the afternoon shows at that park. Then after the parade we head back to our resort for pool time then have a 7pm dinner.

I guess we need a bit more info to help you better.

I have read great reviews of FF!

So you know, Fultons does not accept the Disney Dining Plan...

Yes, I am aware it would be OOP...thank you.

Another FF vote!

No, I'm not looking for a signature restaurant....I think the family would like 50's but the food gets average reviews. We wouldn't mind taking a break around 3 or so and taking the boat over to the Boardwalk for FF. We are going to Fantasmic that night which is at 7:30.

I am pretty certain that FF does not serve lunch.
I would never leave DHS for DTD for lunch - WAY too much wasted time.
We really enjoy the 50's PTC. The food is good - not exceptional, but really good for theme park food. The whole atmosphere is fun too. It is worth it to us.
You need to decide (for your whole trip not just your DHS day) what is really important to you. Is the quality of the food and experience is more important than tourning time in the parks. Very few, if any, of the restaurants in the theme parks offer gourmet level food. So if somewhere like FF or Fultons is your choice, you need to be prepared to sacrifice park touring time. I am not criticizing this approach, just pointing out the "cost" in time.
Have a Great Trip

IMHO just wanted to share that we did not like Fultons. It is beautiful, but food was bland.

HBD was very good last year - all in our party (10 adults, 7 kids) liked it.

This said, I dont think it was worth the 2 credits on DDP. We did other 2 credit things that were far superior for various reasons (CRT for the experience of it, Spirt of Aloha - ribs, show, beer and wine included, Backyard BBQ - same reasons as Spirit plus character interaction for kids and unlimited mickey ice cream bars for kids, Yachtsman - best food we had the entire trip.)

If leaving DHS for a meal, Yachtsman is probably only about a 10 minute boat ride which makes it doable if returning or if hopping over to Epcot very convenient.

Also, was a bit disappointed in Grapefruit cake - not bad, but far from meeting expectations from the way it was talked up here.
