We will be staying at ASMu late Sept with 5yr old DD. Has anyone done the Hayride and/or Campfire movies at Fort Wilderness? Is it worth the drive over? How late do the movies go until? Also, if we make a night of it, is their "food court" any better to have supper in than ASMu? Thanks, Jo

The TRAIL ENDS BUFFET at Ft. Wilderness is a very good buffet for the price. We never did the hayride but our DD loved the movies at the campfire with Chip & Dale.

From WDWIG.com
"The campfire program is open to all WDW resort guests. It generally begins around 7:00 pm during the fall/winter season and 8 pm after the time changes in April through the summer. It is held near the Meadow Trading Post in the campfire area. The program begins with a sing-a-long led by a Disney CM and a marshmallow roast around two campfire rings. You may bring your own marshmallows or buy them at the Chuckwagon (roasting sticks and marshmallows are $2). You may also buy pizza, hot dogs, candy, nachos, juice, popcorn, cokes, coffee, beer and other refreshments at the Chuckwagon. While this is going on, Chip and Dale make an appearance to visit with guests and sign autographs. The sing-a-long lasts about 30 minutes. Next, one or two Disney animated features, depending upon the season, are shown on a large outdoor screen. Seating is available in bleachers or on benches. There is also plenty of room to lay out a quilt or blanket. The movie schedule is posted at all comfort stations. In the event of rain, the sing-a-long is still held on the porch of the Meadow Trading Post."

hi,
can we join the campfire and movies if we're not staying at a disney resort? i though we could. do they ask for your room # or where you're staying when you attend the campfire or movies?

The campfire program is open to all WDW resort guests - but they don't check ID's.

The campfire & movie was one of our favorite things with a 3 and 6 year old. They have hot dogs (good ones) & drinks there, so you could make that your meal. Marshmellows for roasting (bring your own stick if you can). One thing I wish I had done was bring a blanket. If we had, the 3 year old would have gone to sleep on it and we could have stayed longer. It's great, and relaxing, fun.

We arrived at All Star Movies one late afternoon in April. We got settled, took a quick swim, grabbed a quick bite to eat. Then we headed to Fort Wilderness to check it out for future stays and to see the campfire.

We took the bus to the magic kingdom and then the boat to Fort Wilderness. Cool ride! I love being on the water. Anyway - we walked around, explored, and found the campfire and movie... Very Cool!

The bus system within fort wilderness is great too.
We saw a lot - a freakin peacock in the tree for pete's sake - and now we can't wait to go back and stay there.

After a short stay at the campfire we walked back to the boat and returned to the magic kingdom. On our way back we saw part of the water pagent- really cool.
While at the Magic Kingdom and waiting for the bus to All stars we were able to see the fireworks......

What an GREAT First night!!!! And it never cost us a dime!!!!!
Definitely take advantage of all that Fort Wilderness has to offer.....

Glad I found this thread. We are also interested in the campfire night.

Our only problem is we're running out of nights! We want to see the Water Pageant and we also want to do the campfire...any way to do both in the same night?

I thought I remember reading somewhere that you can see the pageant from the FW campgrounds. True???
And if so, is the vantage point anywhere near where the campfire is going on?

Thanks for any tips!

Yes! We do this all the time! Go to the campfire program, then at 9:00-9:15 leave and walk to the marina (about 10-15 minute walk - it's nicer than taking the bus). The EWP comes by after 9:30 (I think it's at 9:45).

That's a great way to spend a relaxing (and cheap!) evening!

Thanks Rhonda!
Sounds like a great idea!

Now we can fit both into our plan.

We were there last year on thanksgiving and went to the sing-along that night after dinner in our "home".

The little ones loved it!:jester:

I took my 3yr old DD to the campfire twice in May. The first time was on a Wed. nite and it was great. The second time I convinced my husband to join us on Saturday nite. What a zoo! Apparently the local Scout troops invade on Sat. nites and it is packed. I would suggest that you make your plans for any of the week nights and avoid the weekend.:earseek: :earseek:
