hi all ..my hubby sufferers with terrible hayfever normally when we go abroad (by the sea) its not as bad. Has anyone had problems in orlando...any advice? thanks :flower:

My husband suffers from hayfever, but never abroad. A friend who was studing her PHD in pollen(!) said that every country has different pollen and you have to become allergic to it. So if you are in a country for a short time you are not exposed to it long enough to get hayfever. If you moved to Orlando then you would eventually get hayfever.

If somebody knows otherwise then please correct me, but we have never had a problem.

My children still suffered in Orlando - sorry.

Never had a problem before - now at home it's quite bad. We're off to WDW in 2 weeks and some of the time we're at WL, so if I'm going to get it, this year's the year (with all those trees etc)- I'll let you know when we get back....

Interesting. When I studied it (I am a sufferer and unfortunately have also "passed" it on to DD), it was the "background" pollution that affected the "tolerance" to pollens. When I go abroad to places like Orlando, Canada, Switzerland, Cyprus, my hayfever, and that of my daughter's, disappears within 2 days. Within 2 days of being back in the UK its back again. If I travel to Germany, Holland etc, it is just as bad.

I have Australian colleagues who came over to the UK to "work" for three years. The first summer they were here a number of them got hayfever (they'd never had it before), and they suffered badly for the 3 summers they were here. Since they've been back in Oz (Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane) they've never suffered from it.

My wife and I both have hayfever - my wife particularly suffers. We have never had it in orlando though.

cant generalise but we are both suffering at the moment( in UK) didnt have a problem in may in Orlando,. Gill

I have hayfever quite badly to the point where I have to take ventolin. Once the hayfever season is over I never have to use the ventolin. I am pleased to say that neither myself nor my DH have ever suffered whilst in Orlando/Florida.
To be on the safe side I would take your usual medicines with you. Personnally I find that the nose sprays work wonders for me as I am no longer bunged up as I was a couple of weeks ago before I started to use it. Before I was taking tablets.
Hope he is ok ::MinnieMo

doesn't it depend on the season that you're there?
i don't remember when it is.....spring? fall?....summer?...
many weather reports include pollen reports...
i've never looked at www.weather.com but maybe they have something there....

thanks for all the replies..yes he will take his tablets with him and see when we get there :flower:

I also have asthma with the Hayfever ( never at other times of the year) I never have it in Florida athough I always take meds with me just in case.
