Hawthorn Suites Universal

Has anyone ever stayed at the Hawthorn Suites near Universal Studios? It is located at 7601 Canada Ave near the International Drive area. I saw some info on the web stated it has 1 bedromm suite (2 queen beds) and a separate living room with sleeper sofa. I am trying to decide between this and Comfort Suites Maingate East. I have received plenty of information and feedback on Comfort Suites but do not know too much about Hawthorn. Any help would be appreciated on the the rooms along with their shuttle services.

Do a search and you will find some information. I am also thinking of staying at the Hawthorn as I know that it is fairly new and it gets a good review. The only thing that is putting me off is the size of the pool which I dont think is very large.

I stayed there when it first opened in 1999. The pool was not very big, but not too small either. It was a typical hotel pool...they also had a jacuzzi. At the time they had a nightly reception that had small finger food, and really was not that good. It could have changed by now, because they were just begining then. The housekeeping staff was nice and my husband joined in conversation with many of them. (Many had relatives/friends in PA. for some odd reason.) I got a rate of 65.00, there was one Queen bed. I would not have paid the rack rate- 65.00 was okay to pay. I did not think that it was that glamorous, but it was clean, well-maintained, and it was nice having the kitchen/living room. Don't use the pool as a basis to decide or you will be disappointed.
