We stayed there in 1999, the hotel was quiet and clean, the breakfast, not so great, but I hear they've upgraded it. We had a King suite, our bedroom had a door, but I visited collegues there for the same convention, and some of them had louvered bi-fole doors seperating the living area from the bedroom. The pool is standard, but nicely landscaped, and there are tables in the shade next to the pool, with access to the breakfast area that were very pleasant to dine at. We've stayed at HIFS several times, these Hawthorne suites are roomier, and I like the kitchen... if we bring take-out or cook in the room, I like the option of using real plates and having a table all four of us can sit around. Let's see what else, there is a trolley service that runs along International drive that passes by every half hour I think, very resonable cost. The hotel is tucked back from the main drag, so it's quiet. We enjoyed it, and would stay there again.

Hi, I stayed at Hawthorn Suites SeaWorld many times - in 1997, 1998, 1999, and last January 2002. It is my favorite off-site hotel. The rooms are clean, and the place is very well kept. The pool is landscapped with palm trees and we always enjoyed swimming there. I stayed in a one bedroom and a two bedroom, and never had a problem. In January, the breakfast included cooked food such as scrambled eggs and waffles, as well as all the classics such as fruit, bagels, toast, muffins, cereals, etc. I always thought the breakfast was well prepared and a good variety of choices - it was nice to have a good breakfast to begin the day. The location is nice - off of International Drive, so trafffic is not impossible. Always plenty of parking.
As for pre-teens, I think there was an arcade room there near the elevators. I never went in there so I am not sure exactly what was in the room.

I bet you got a good rate - we paid upwards of $139 a night for a two bedroom back in 1999!(over Easter, that is why it was so much!)

I like this hotel so much I tried to reserve it again for next month, but it was completely booked on the days I wanted! :( So I am trying a different Hawthorn Suites - the Lake Buena Vista one. I sure hope I enjoy this one as much as the SeaWorld hotel! :)

hi there
thanks for your quick reply's the suites sound really nice we had originaly booked the clarion universal but then decided a suite would be best, i got a great rate of $59 per night which i doubt could be beaten so it was too good to let go especially its for 14 nights so thats quite a saving thanks again for the info.
margaret. ps hugs for everyone did the suites have doors seperating the bedroom/living area or the louvre bifold type also whats the sofa bed like is it comfy enough and enough bedding , also whats the kitchen area like sorry for so many questions but im getting excited about my hols even though theire not until august
thanks again.

How did you get such a rate? I am looking for next July and I just used this year's comparable date and I am coming up with 169 for a 2 bedrm. I would go for two 1 brdm at that price.

value trips were offering the suites for $64.50 & hotel kingdom had them for $77.90, so i called hotel kingdom and asked them about rate champion that is if you see any of the hotels on their site cheaper they will match it and give you $5 off per night so i told them about value trips site so they matched it and i got it for $59 per night not bad eh! so they said they would call hawthorn suites to verify that value trips price then they emailed and called me back with my confirmation no after which i called the hotel to request 2 beds no problem.
i was soooo excited getting that rate even though we dont go until august
marharet.

Hi Banjo - that's great your so excited already!!

Actually, this made me remember something ..............

On one stay, we had a one-bedroom suite with the folding doors, and on another stay I had two seperate rooms in a one-bedroom suite. Now that I think about it, I must say I did not enjoy the folding door arrangement. I had the sofa bed, and my parents had the bedroom seperated by the folding doors. We were actually quite close to eachother, with the folding doors right near the TV in the living room. I tried to watch TV at night, but I remember that my parents yelled at me to turn off the TV because they could hear it, even on low. They went to sleep early - around 10:00 pm, so I basically had to go to sleep then, too. Since I am an adult traveling with my parents, it was a bit humbling :( but they paid my way, so I had to listen.

In January, we had a one bedroom but the bedroom was a seperate room entirely with a real door. I also slept on the couch on that trip, and I watched TV late, and no one said anything this time! :)

So if your teenagers want more privacy, then hopefully you can request a one bedroom without those folding doors! As for the couch, I remember the couch being a normal sized couch, and the pull-out bed was fine. When I travel with other people, I usually end up sleeping on couch so I am pretty used to it, and I had no problems sleeping. :)

Hope this helps!!!

deposit to card at time of booking.Hope this helps someone get a better deal.

thanks ljane for that tip that hotel is the one at universal and is a great rate does anyone know which was is the better universal or hawthorn seaworld?
margaret.

we have res. for the Hawthorn LBV but they only shuttle to disney parks, is it worth it to change to the hawthorn universal (canada dr) since they shuttle to disney and the other parks as well? plus they are 1 block away from the trolly? Or should we stay at LBV? can you park somewhere to ride the trolly? I'm concerned about driving around orlando, I can just see us getting rear ended and messing up our day.

presleyg, with me money is the issue i dont know what the lbv hotel is like come to think of it i dont know what any of them are like! lol i am only going with reports on these boards and the overall impression is that all the hawthorn suites are pretty decent, i have the car for our trip so dont need to rely on the shuttle so i guess thats a bonus and this is the third time hiring the car fingers crossed with no problems so if money is an object like it is with myself(always out for a bargain) i would check out the rates and try resbid.com as jayne mentioned as that seems to be the best deal for the universal area best of luck
margaret.
