I can see two Hawaiian cruises in April 2020 but none for 2021. Will Disney announce these in due course, or does this mean they wont be happening?

If they are to announce them, this means that the Alaska cruising season would get shortened somewhat. DCL has been making significant commitments to specific ports as of late and it looks like special itineraries are taking a bit of a hit, especially for the Disney Wonder. With increased commitments to Galveston, New Orleans and San Diego, there was just no way that DCL could fit Southern Caribbean cruises from San Juan in 2021 for example. As the Wonder will be leaving later from San Diego in 2021 than in 2020, they either delay the Alaskan season by going to Hawaii from Vancouver... or they do not do Hawaii at all. Now another possibility would be for Hawaii at the end of the cruising season in Vancouver, rather than the beginning...

I would bet there would be no spring 2021 Hawaii cruise. DCL does these periodically, not regularly and while the spring 2020 cruise sold well I can't see them cutting into their Alaska season to add them. (Looks like the Wonder arrives in Vancouver May 17th - a Monday when they have traditionally been starting their Alaska cruises. The shortest one way Hawaii cruises they have done have been 9 nights so to Hawaii and back would be 18 nights. If they were to add Hawaii, that would put their first Alaska sailing June 4th the earliest - a Friday. So they'd either need to lengthen the Hawaii cruises a couple days each or have a weekend cruise to get back to the Monday schedule.) So unless the first Alaska cruises have been selling very poorly and DCL is going to gamble that 2 Hawaii cruises will earn them more than 3 Alaska cruises, it's not likely you'll see Hawaii in May 2021.

Thank you both for your great replies - I wont hold my breath for a 2021 Hawaiian cruise!

W did our Hawaii cruise in 2015 in September, so there's that possibility too.

It could be but I think the reason DCL waited a long time to do more Hawaii cruises is because of they couldn’t fill the ship. I was on the Vancouver to Hawaii cruise. Both cruises had a lot of empty staterooms. DCL was almost giving the cruises away to cast members and they couldn’t fill the ship.

People ask why will they almost give the cruise away to cast members. Three reasons

1. to say thank you to the cast members.
2. For extra money for Disney of course. Even thou they are almost giving the cruise away to cast members they are still getting some money better than nothing. Also when they book excursions, alcohol, souvenirs etc. I’m guessing not much money from photos .
3. It helps out the workers on board. The ones who get tips.

Dreams Unlimited posted that there are several categories of rooms available for the 9 night Hawaii cruise, the payoff date was 12-30.

We jumped ship on the 10 night Hawaii cruise in order to go back to Europe and are now going on the 12 night TA leaving Miami on May 11th.
We had a secret Verandah room booked too! Someone is going to get a good surprise scoring that room!

The Wonder is actually leaving San Diego a week earlier than usual, not later. It's due to arrive in Vancouver May 17th. The first Alaskan cruise of the season has been, for the past several.years anyway, on Victoria Day weekend here in Canada. In 2021 that long weekend ends on May 24, not the 17th.

In 2020, the Wonder is leaving San Diego on April 24. In 2021, it is leaving on May 12... so it is later. But I do get your point vs other years. Fact remain though that this would only leave them 7 days for an Hawaii cruise if they were to start sailing Alaska right after the long weekend - not happening. So point remains that if they were to have Hawaii in the Spring of 2021, it would slightly delay the start of the Alaskan cruising season...

IF they were to do Hawaii in 2021 I bet it would be at the end of the Alaskan season, not the beginning. The wait continues lol

Hawaii Spring 2020 cruises were released with the first batch of 2020 itineraries. I suspect that if there were going to be any Spring 2021 Hawaii cruises those would have been announced in October with the other early 2021 itineraries. I agree with BCWife that if there are going to be any Hawaii sailings they'll be in the fall.

You also have to remember that the Disney Wish will be commissioned in 2021, there by starting the transition of the home porting of the older ships. Eventually (speculation here!) they could home port the Wonder on the West Coast Full time after they get the other 2 ships sailing, but until then their decisions about itineraries and ports are just that speculation and supposition. I'm looking forward to seeing what DCL has in store for all the ships post 2024 and beyond.

They are usually done sailing to Alaska by mid September. And that's when they did the two one way cruises to Hawaii and back to Vancouver in 2015.

Thanks. Not the month I was hoping for. We decided to try for a summer itinerary for our next cruise and our kids' vacations are only June and July and maybe the first week of August.

The Wonder is in Alaska during those months and DCL would never give those up, they are cash cows :rotfl2:
