Hawaii?

So you can trade to any of those resorts in the link?

It is the list of the II resorts in Hawaii. In theory, you could trade into any of those resorts, based on availability. Owners there would have to deposit their weeks into II. In reality, some may be difficult to trade into, and it will depend on the time of year you are looking to travel. I think you can put in a request up to two years in advance.

Thank you! I am just looking into buying and was wondering how easy it was to exchange out. If we ever went to Hawaii I am sure we would plan at least 1-2 years in advance.

Being that Hawaii trades are sometimes difficult, I recommend that if you need to travel at a specific time to a specific resort, you rent out the exact week and resort that you want, versus taking the gamble of getting something through II. However, I think if you are very flexible with your requests and travel off-season, you might be able to get what you want. Dean is the expert on II exchanges, I think, but he usually uses non-DVC properties to exchange. Good luck!

Ok thank you for the information. We are not looking for a couple years. We need to buy DVC first... We have small children and are not ready to be on a plane that long with them for several years... :) Westin sure looks beautiful~

Buying DVC to trade to Hawaii would be a poor choice in my opinion. One would be better off buying less points and looking to other means to get to high demand high cost places such as Hawaii. Still there are ways to maximize your value and chances if you do to decide to do that route. Also realize that many of the choices and seasons on the list are a poor value for trade even if available. Places like Hawaii and Aruba generally have smaller units such as studios and one bedrooms and have far less two bedrooms than many other areas. Thus if one needs a two bedroom, that would make trading even more of a poor choice.
