Hi all (and especially Dean) -

Still trying to plan out this combination cruise and DVC-Hawaii exchange and need some advice. We are flexible on our dates - basically anytime June or July 2006. The problem though is I am planning on doing a week cruise on NCL either before or after our week long exchange. It seems to me we need to first nail down the exchange and then book the cruise. Would you agree with this? So backtracking from June 2006, to get the best cruise rate I would not want to book it any later than say 8-9 months out. This would put us booking the cruise around Oct. 2005. So when should I put in for the exchange, to make sure that we have a week reserved by Oct. 2005? One other problem, from what I understand, I have to have the points available (or borrowable) when the match is made. My use year is April and we are using all of this years points and next years points already. So that means, I will need to be able to borrow the points from April 2006 use year, meaning that I can't accept a match earlier than April 2005. Are you still with me? So, if I put in my request April 2005, what are my chances of getting a match by October 2005? What can I do to increase my chances? I have to say, I'm not real particular as to where we stay, just so we have an exchange at some Hawaii resort for a week. Also, either a 1-BR or even a studio would be fine, since it's just DW and myself. I keep reading that KCR is any easy match and looked at their website, the place looks neat to me. So once again if I'm trying to get a match from between April 2005-Oct. 2005 for staying sometime in June or July 2006, what resorts/islands, etc. should I ask for to maximize my chances and also how successful do you think I will be. Thanks for sticking with me on this.

Yes, KCR is an easy match if you start well ahead. We matched in a month last December, looking for March 2005.

I defer to other more-experienced members to respond to the rest of your note.
