I am looking at air fares for 2/22/15 from Maui to LAX. There is a perfect non-stop flight in the afternoon that suits our needs. The fare is 481.70 per person. Do you think I should book now or wait for lower price.

Thanks

This also depends on the airline you are booking with, many now offer refunds if the price drops, usually in the form of credit though.

Check http://my.yapta.com/airline-refunds/ for details about the airline you are considering booking with. They are also great at watching if your airfare drops between when you book and when you fly.

Saved us about $120 per ticket on our jetblue tickets in November and it was a 24 hour sale that Jetblue was doing, so it helped a lot.

A credit is not a refund.

All US airlines allow you to rebook non-refundable tickets if the price drops. The problem is you have to pay a change ticket fee, which averages $200 for a domestic flight. The only US airlines which don't charge a fee for changes are Southwest, JetBlue (their policy is to charge a fee, but they don't), and Alaska Airlines, if the change is made at least 60 days in advance.

If you fly the same airline more than once a year, a credit is as good as a refund in my book.

Jetblue's official policy is not to charge a change fee for price drops according to their current FAQs on their website...believe me I have been all over their FAQS as of late, as we are going with someone with a service animal and wanted to know their policies as they are written. They actually don't charge a change fee if the originating and destination airports are the same and the dates don't change, even if the number of stops or location of them change. This is why the change fee doesn't get charged in these situations.

I refuse to fly Southwest, United or related airlines, due to how poorly they treat their customers.

I will fly Delta if Jetblue isn't going where I want or is way more expensive than Delta. But overall I have always had great experiences with Jetblue, including landing am hour early this last Sunday in Long Beach. And we even had a delay in getting on the plane. No a long one, but a delay none the less. They are also always kind and considerate.

We have actually had a situation where one of us had to leave a United flight with no real compensation for it, despite a massive delay. And very rude flight attendant on both of our United flights......never again.
