We will be going to Maui in August. We have a timeshare there so we don't have to worry about finding lodging, but what else do I need to know? What must haves for trip packing? I haven't been to Hawaii in years and never with the kids! It is a family trip so my parents and siblings will be there.. Help?!! :)

We did Maui in April 2010 when my son was 4. We were celebrating my mom being cancer free.:yay::yay:

My son loved swimming in the pool every day. We didn't swim in the ocean a lot as where our hotel was, the water came right up to the retainer wall at high tide and was sandbars when low tide. We did explore the sandbars and check out all the different sea life left behind. We saw sea cucumbers, crabs, fish - it was fun to do.

I had thrown in a kite into the suitcase at the last minute and boy was I glad that I did. My son had so much fun flying his kite along the ocean. I had a 2 pack of kites so he shared with another little girl.

We did do some snorkeling and we had brought our own gear but he only used the googles and mouth piece - he didn't use the flippers. I wish I would have brought an underwater camera for him to take pictures with though.

Maui is so beautiful and relaxing. Many of the timeshare resorts that we saw had BBQ and patio tables with chairs surrounding the swimming pool so you could BBQ supper while the kids played in the pool. It was really nice.

Have a great trip! I would recommend bringing kites, frisbees, beach balls/floaties that you can blow up, googles and snorkel mouth piece for the kids if you have space in your luggage. They will be prepared for anything that way.:)

Sunscreen, hats, water toys, long flight--toys, asprin, $$$$$$-- Maui is not cheap. Have fun.

Hotels rent boogie boards but they are expensive, I read you can pick them up pretty cheap at the Walmart near the airport.

If you plan on doing any snorkeling, rent from Snorkel Bob's. You can rent for the week and return at any location.
