Ok so another thread got this started. ;)

Where are you dreaming the new itineraries will take you (when the 2 new ships debut?)

Actually, one ship could theoretically handle both. Since you can only cruise to Alaska during the summer, the ship could do Hawaii during the rest of the year. Of course, it needs to overcome the restrictions about Hawaii travel for non-US ships.....

As I posted on the other thread, Hawaii has far too many cruise ships berths now. So if the decision was made today, Hawaii would make no business sense. Just depends what the market is like in late 2009 or early 2010 when Disney has to start making some decisions about itineraries.

I voted Alaska because it's supposed to be SPECTACULAR and I've been to Hawaii 4 times (try to go once every 5 yrs). I think DS would probably get bored on most cruise lines to Alaska, but not on DCL.

I think I'd prefer to go to Hawaii & just sit on a beach on Maui for 7 days... (Also, we did the West Coast cruise in '05 & didn't have the best weather so I'd like to do that trip again, but at a different time of year - I'm hoping to get to do that trip in the winter or spring VS summer...)

they could do a one way from LA with a stop in mexico. than come back with a stop in mexico. to stay in hawaii they will have to travel to fanning island which is 850 miles away.

A vote for Hawaii. I'd love a taste of each of the islands without the hassle of island hopping. I'm all for security, but with just one scanner and a two hour wait for security for a 30 minute plane ride (ACK), it drove us crazy.

We're from the east so we already have the cold, snow and ice. Give us Waikiki.

I voted other. Really didn't care for Hawaii and Alaska just doens't grab me. I would love to see fall trips to Canada/New England out if NYC or Boston. More Med trips, Also, UK and Scandanavia, etc.

I voted Hawaii just because we are doing Alaska this year.

Hawaii.... cant snorkle in Alaska!:lmao:

Yes you can!

I voted Alaska because I've already done a Hawaii cruise. I think if DCL does Hawaii, it would just be the occasional special itinerary. Week-long cruises seem to be the bread and butter of most lines that market to families. 7-day cruises are easily done in Alaska, but not in Hawaii unless you have a US-flagged ship.

I am shocked! I thought Hawaii had it hands down.

I think a DCL cruise to Hawaii would be great - I can imagion expensive. I have no idea how many days it would detail. But, the ship could sail to Hawaii then make stops at the differnet islands. Like someone mentioned earlier, island hopping without the dreaded plane.

TV guy, dont burst our bubble yet! We have 5- 6 years to figure this out!;)

I voted Alaska because out of all of the places I have ever been, Alaska was the most beautiful. DH and I did a cruise there last year, and I now have the Alaska fever!!!!!!! I want to go there each year now. As a matter of fact, I told DH that I would consider moving there. The scenery was breathtaking. Watching and listening to whales was breathtaking! Eagles flying all around me was breathtaking! Words cannot express how beautiful it was!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am already planning our next Alaska cruise for next year.
DCL going to Alaska would be a dream come true for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I voted for Hawaii because if I really wanted to I could drive to Alaska from here lol. No really I've always wanted to go to Hawaii and what better way to see Hawaii than on a cruise ship well I will tell you on a Disney Cruise ship that's how. I would do the whole 12 hour trip to get there for that let me tell you. It's a 7 hour trip to Orlando from where I live anyways what's another couple of hours lol.

I voted Hawaii. It was where we went for our honeymoon, and after 25 years would love to return some time soon.

Of course I am interested in Alaska, but intend at some point to do it via motorcycle. Of course that is a 5100 mile trip via two wheels, and DW has already whined about riding 90 miles to NH on the back of the bike..so maybe a cruise would be more to her liking. ;)

Alaska has my vote! We had the best trip ever a few years ago. We stayed a week in Alaska visiting Denali, Fairbanks, and Anchorage and then went on a Princess Cruise. The scenery is tops and alot of time to enjoy the cruise ship.

We'd be happy with either, but I think Disney could provide a level of service in Hawaii that does not seem to be there right now at least with some of the ships. Nevertheless, we'll be sailing the NCL Pride of Aloha in late July. My expectations ON the ship are low and OFF the ship are high.

Fishnips,
If you wouldn't mind, can you PM me with what you did in Anchorage?
We are doing a 9 day land tour before our cruise and the 2 nights in Anchorage is the only part not planned. I just haven't come across anything that excited me there yet. We'll be staying at the downtown Hilton.
Thanks:)

I stand corected .. you can snorkle in Alaska!:rotfl:
But in a quarter inch thick wet-suit! I hate paddling in sunny Az in the winter when the days are 60 to 70 degrees. OK Im a whimp!:thumbsup2

This is what I keep thinking, those of you that choose Alaska, you are speaking of what you would like. So, what about the kids? Would the kids like the ports and excursions in Alaska? Those of you that have been on an Alaskan cruise already WITH kids, tell us how they liked it.
