Hello,,

Where would you request for a garden view room in Hawaii?

I would request 2nd floor, because it's non smoking. Does being on the same floor with the lounge make a difference? IS it too noisy?

I know 2nd floor doesn't have balconies, but since we don't have a castle view, does it matter?

Is a garden view something that is over sold much, so you're more likely to be upgraded, or not? Since we're going at Xmas, I expect things to be full?

Also, we plan to get up our first morning, leave POR and to to a park for a few hours, and come back to take a break around 1pm. I know it's likely our room won't be ready, but could we go to the concierge lounge and relax?

Thanks

Julia

I've stayed gardenview many times at the Poly and have never been upgraded. I don't ask though as I'm happy with what I book. I would never want a room that didn't have a balcony. We love to sit out on the balcony and watch the sites. I would request a room change if they stuck me with a room without one. As far as Hawaii, we had booked that for October but after hearing all the piggish behavior of the guests at concierge I canceled and booked a standard room. When I had booked Hawaii I asked for a 3 floor because of the view (booked lagoon) and I thought some rooms up there were indeed non smoking.

I've stayed LV twice at the PR CL, once on teh first and once on the third floor. On the third floor there are smoking rooms waaaaaayyyyyy down at the end, I never smelled smoke. I'm asthmatic and my non-smoking room was guaranteed through special services, I would imagine if they thought there was a remote chance that it would e affected by teh smoking rooms on the other end of the floor they wouldn't have placed me there.

Especially at Christmas you chances of an upgrade are remote at best. Highly unlikely. If you REALLY want a LV room, book it or risk disappointment.

Well, I'd rather be on the third floor, but was worried about smoking rooms being there and smelling smoke from them, even in a non smoking room. That's why I was wondering about being on 2nd floor......if it wa snoisy.

I assumed that upgrades were very unlikely; that's why we booked concierge...I didn't want to try and book at the resort.....I thought it was likely it would be full.

My question about upgrades was more wondering if Disney actually sells the specific quantity of rooms available, or do they overbook garden views, and then end up having to bump up some people to lagoon view.

With 3 kids, and being there 8 days, we decided we'd rather have the extra space the concierge lounge provides, and enjoy the view from there, rather than a lagoon view.

Thanks

Julia
