We booked a week in Maui through RCI at 11 months, and the wait for our 7 month window to book Aulani was hard, but the date to book is today, and we booked it, yeah! A week in Hawaii, not cold Ohio or NJ! I understand that whales are in Hawaii then, and we all hope to see some!

Our group is the same 3 couples who were together in September. Right now we are sober because the C has returned to one of us. We hope the hard times he's going through now will again cause a remission and allow him this trip. He's a fighter.

We were at Aulani this past February. One of the many highlights of our visit was seeing whales right off the beach in front of Aulani. We saw them both from the lagoon and from our balcony (we were in villa #1578, which is an Ocean View studio in the Ewa Building Phase 3 wing). One evening near sunset we watched a mom and her baby swim past Aulani. Mom, like other adults, would blow about once every 3-5 minutes, but her baby would blow these little spouts about every 30 seconds. It was times like that that make me glad there is a DVC resort in Hawaii!.

Wow! Thank you for telling us about this!

Bobbi - jealous - I'll be taking the family to Chicago in Feb to see Hamilton. Good play; cold as #%€£. Enjoy Bobbi. Positive thoughts for your friend. Cancer sux.

Feb is such a great time to go, the whales make it extra special but the best part is when you come back winter is almost over!

Congrats! What fun! Is this the first time you've traded thru RCI?

What a wonderful trip to anticipate, Bobbi! My DSis and hubby did Maui/Aulani this past Feb. and had a perfect trip. Don't miss Ultimate Whale watch in Lahaina. If I could go to Maui I would do that excursion multiple times because I am absolutely addicted to whale watching and that particular company is the best of all we have tried. Such a great time to visit! Hope your friend is in remission by then. Have a blast!

Never traded, have no idea how it will work out, but did check a trip report that was favorable. We're taking a chance, but figure it was worth it.
I will try to find the thread.

I've put this in my notes, thank you!

Congrats. Maui and Aulani are a must for us every year. The amount of whales that you will see off of Lahaina are undescribable. I know you won't be disappointed. I don't know much about the resort you're staying at but the Kaanapali area is terrific. Be sure to visit Whalers Village for great eats and fun shopping and if you opt for a Luau, the Westin has a very small and personal show with great food and beverages.

That sounds wonderful!

We have not been to a luau, thanks for the recommendation!

We used the Pacific Whale Foundation while there in Lahaina. Excellent trip and they even have an instrument onboard that allows you to hear the whales calling underwater. We also just booked at Aulani for the 1st week of February (at 7 months) and had no problem with availability. Don't forget to see the Road to Hana.
