Hawai’i 10 Night Cruise to Vancouver

Just saw this posted on another thread:
The Government of Canada has announced:
Cruise ships transporting over 500 people will not be able to stop in Canada until JULY 1.
This will have significant impact on the Alaska cruise season.
For the Arctic, it applies for the entire cruise season due to inadequate health resources there. For smaller ships, including ferries, additional health measures will be added. Also, inbound flights from other countries will be restricted to coming in to a smaller number of Canadian airports. Details to come. (per live press conference on CBC, statement from Minister of Transport)

Not sure if this means DCL will cancel our cruise or try to re-route to some other foreign port?

Just saw that too. I hope they cancel and not reroute. Just give us our money back.

Our Prime Minster is having a press conference soon. People are thinking he will close the border.

My daughters university just closed down today and will have to finish the year on line ,no in person exams. She can’t come home because will still have to do her 5 weeks of clinical at the hospital. One day a week.

I would REALLY like to go on this cruise, but I would love to be able to make plans one way or the other. If DCL cancels, then I just need to see if Delta will open up the opportunity to cancel for full refund on airfare. (fingers crossed).

I am in the same situation - I need to change my Delta return flight as I still would like to go to Aulani if I can - I would prefer a refund I can't find another cruise to move this cruise to - The prices are insane HIGH. I really want to do this - but not to the point of my health or others health or my job.

What a day. My UK office has shut down and everyone has to work from home. I am escaping back to Canada where I will have to self-isolate for 14 days. After a couple hours of effort, I got onto one of the last seats of a very full plane on Sunday.

I don't have it in me to look at the contract yet, but surely Disney cannot make us finish the cruise in a different country than originally intended without offering refunds? I get that they can change the itinerary. And the only other location would be the US which makes it a US<->US loop, which isn't allowed, isn't it? Surely they have to cancel and refund?

Safe travels home. Lots happening here. Heck just saw our church is cancelling masses this Sunday and no groups that use the basement until April 14th.

We are waiting to see what happens, will let the March and April cruises call in first.

I'm glad you're back home. Canada also set a level 3 advisory for all global travel, so we're not allowed to go anywhere, even America, right now. I feel REALLY bad for the people that live in Point Roberts, WA. I don't think they even have a grocery store there, as they rely on crossing the border to Canada for most things. I hope they will be exempt. (They really should be...)

Cruises cannot start and end in the same country without stopping in a foreign port. And the only other option would be to take us all to Tahiti or Mexico, as with the sailing before us,, so that's not going to happen. The fines for violating that rule is extremely steep; I've seen a passenger fined of something around $15,000 per person for violations. Not something the cruise lines would do.

We're still waiting to hear form Disney Cruise Line. Our cruise will undoubtedly be cancelled, which is a shame. They'll be taking care of earlier sailings first. We don't need to rush on anything. With all the advisories in place, Americans cannot go on this cruise, Canadians cannot either, and the ship has nowhere to leave from or return to. Maybe they'll schedule Hawaii 2022 and let us all have a do-over with the same cabins. I cannot return our FE gift items, so I'll still work to make them for a future sailing. Or I'll keep them all for myself, which isn't so bad either.

Hang in there, everyone!

Safe travels home !!
I expect the cruise to be cancelled and refunded
I only hope this calms down by May and I can still go to Aulani and at least get some Hawaii and by putting in place all these restrictions it saves lives !!! That is what is most important !!

I live in Oregon, have traveled up to Vancouver quite a few times and never heard of Point Roberts, WA. Just checked the map - wow! You're not kidding they should be exempt. Where else would they go?

I'm not sure if that's realistic, I'm afraid. They're hoping that current efforts to contain the virus will be effective, but some experts are still thinking it may peak in May.

Crazy, right? Random trivia of the day. They are currently petitioning to join Canada permanently. It makes sense.

According to CLIA's statement today, all cruises from the United states have been paused for 30 days.

Hence why I’m concerned about making it to Aulani - I’m afraid this will be in full force in May
Omg I grocery shop once a month and the stores are wiped out - 4 stores no toilet paper / paper towels / wipes / etc
No meat to speak of / I got the last box of Cheerios and every store jam packed
You would think people are going to be locked away forever crazy

I am as disappointed as the rest of you. At this point I hope they offer a full refund as there isn’t really a Cruise out there we are excited about. Another Cruise line we are booked on is offering 125% credit toward a future booking or 100% refund and giving you until December 31, 2022 to rebook. Who knows maybe Disney will get in line with the other Cruise lines?

As of right now, for the earlier cancelled sailings, they have the choice of a 100% refund or 125-150% future cruise credit. The cruise credit must be used on a sailing within 15 months of your original sail date, which would be August 2021 for us. I wish they would extend it to December, if only so we could access the full European and Panama Canal sailing options. (The sailings over 7 days, like this one.)

Panama Canal verandahs are $14,000 right now - ouch !! That would be the one cruise I would want but not at that price !!
I told DH about the current offers let’s just say he is not very keen on cruising again any time soon! It is not the cruise industry fault ! Will need to work on that !!
since Disney is leaving hotels open still holding a small sparkle of hope I can go to Aulani

Well forget it dh job just announced can’t travel anywhere where they have this which is everywhere
I’m now out $3k or more and sad but I will look at the big picture of saving lives

Why out $3K? Is it non DCL costs? I'm waiting for DCL to cancel to get the best deal. Thankfully for the rest we have trip insurance if needed.
