Would someone be able to remind me again what happens if you purchase multiple contracts with two different UYs? Does it all fall under the same DVC Membership number with same log on details from the DVC Member site? Or does DVC issue a new membership number and I'd have to create a second account with different log-on credentials?

It will be a separate membership but under the same login. You just choose which membership you're booking with.

Accessing it is all the same. Using it is when it is different. You can not book a single reservation using points from both without transferring between the two.

That requires a call. They currently allow more than one transfer when it’s the same owner, but they are not required to do that.

There are rules to the points when transferred. They retain their own UY and you can not transfer points if they have been banked.

We have two and like it but we use each membership for different trips. I transferred only once and found it more of a hassle.

So, there have been times when I borrowed points in one membership whe I had points in the other to avoid it.

It is doable but unless you have a specific reason for it, it’s easier to keep one.

Thank You. That is very helpful. We have a FEB and AUG use year, but my August contracts havent been uploaded. We like having an August UY for trips be book in October, November and December. Works out great this way!

We had 350 FEB UY, we did pretty much the same adding 200 JUN UY a couple of months ago. Initially we were strictly looking for more FEB points, but expanded out when we couldn’t find what we wanted. Now we are glad we did, as we will always use them for Sept and later trips. FEB works for Sept trips, but anything later is past the banking deadline and would always make me nervous. Now we are good through the end Jan when using the JUN UY points. Those benefits outweigh the negatives of a second UY for us. You have to be smart about how you use them when needing to transfer between contracts, but if a dummy like me can do it anyone can.

I'm sure its not that difficult but for me it would just add an additional level of complexity I don't want. And having to call member service to transfer points would be a deal breaker.

I have two membership numbers and one log-in. This involves a lot of dropdowns, even for the art on the homescreen about my next trip.

If the ownership were different enough, like a trust or something, I can imagine it forcing a different login.

I like having two UYs. I use one for winter-ish trips and one for summer-ish trips.

We have 1 membership with Aug UY and ownership includes adult kids. We have another membership with Aug UY and 2 home resorts with just DH and I. And we have a third membership with Dec UY and 2 home resorts with just DH and I. I only have one log in even though different ownership since same name on all memberships. When our son turns 18 next year, he will be added to membership 1 and we may change ownership on the other 4 properties to a trust. It will be interesting (ha ha) to see if that messes up my access.

Intend to use the memberships independently (fall and spring) and will only transfer points when needed. I will typically be booking in the home resort window so combining points isn’t an issue unless I decide to switch at 7 months. And we like split stays when it’s just the two of us to minimize bus only transportation.

And yes, I have a spreadsheet to track all the points used, banked, borrowed, and transferred for each resort and UY. But I love the planning and do not like orphaned points as I intend to use every one that we purchased.

This sounds very complicated.

It is and it isn’t…😂
We like the home resort advantage and bought for that reason. We got different UYs because we travel between late September and end of May. With Aug and Dec UYs, we are basically covered for the entire year - can cancel and still bank points 8/1-3/31 and 12/1-7/31. Using the contracts independently isn’t an issue since we enjoy split stays. Our bigger contracts (RIV and AKL) are used for larger family trips in December and we use those contracts every other year so we have enough points to book a week in a 2BR. Getting a 3BR, cabin or bungalow may be difficult since we have to wait until 7 month window to combine and/or transfer points for a single reservation, but I could just as easily get 2 reservations and have MS link them.
For a 7 month window planner, having multiple UYs would probably not be ideal. At 7 months, points are points and having a bigger combined “point pool” allows for larger accommodations or longer stays. But even then, you still have to be aware of how many points are on each contract if you have multiple contracts.
Planning 11 months out to get those difficult to book room types (standard view studios at RIV, VGF (for now) and CCV or value/club level studios at AKL) requires that you own there. So we have taken the “buy where you want to stay” literally, 😝

This is exactly why I bought my Aug UY BWV contract for the fall and use my SSR Dec UY points in the spring.
