Having to wait in the OUTSIDE queue for Monsters? Never experienced THAT before. :)

The 5-6 times we've ridden Monsters, Inc (boys love it), we've had to wait in a short line, 5-10 minutes probably. This was the first week of June the past two years BUT it was peak hours most of the time (between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.) ao it's easy to imagine that there is not usually any line.

I should probably have stated it differently...it's not that we always just walk right on...I've just never waited OUTSIDE before. :)

When we were there the 2nd week of June my brother waited 40 minutes for Monsters! Bless his heart he took my 5 year old so I could watch the Drawn by Magic show that is right there by it. We waited probably 20 or 25 minutes for it right after that show as well. Longest I've ever waited for monsters but I love that ride. I had never noticed the smells on it before in the restaurant and the locker room and the door room where the abominal snowman has his snowcones.

HAHA First time we rode it we waited almost 3 hours........

Yikes! Okay, you must have been very underwhelmed by Monsters after that long wait!:lmao: I mean, it is a cute ride, and I like the Monsters ride a lot, but 3 hours is way too much for that. In fact, I LOVE me some Toy Story and some Pirates and some Buzz Lightyear, but nope, not waiting 2 or 3 hours for them. So far I have not even encountered a 10-minute wait for Monsters. I always think, as we coast right on into the building and onto the ride, "Where are the people? Why is no one in line? Do they not know the ride is here?" I might not like it so much if I suddenly had to wait 30 minutes or more!:lmao: For example, I really like Roger Rabbit - it has secretly been one of my favorites since the '90s - but that line can go from being 5 minutes to 40 minutes in the course of an hour, and for me, it is a ride that is worth 5 minutes in line, but it is not worth 40 minutes in line. If I am going to spend 40 minutes in line, it will go towards something like TSMM, where I can score points!:rotfl: One time last year, we ended up in a crazy line for Haunted Mansion Holiday at about 6 p.m.-ish on a Saturday night in October, and waited for over 45 minutes, closer to one hour, I think it was. Now, I felt it was not worth it because we had JUST been on that ride the day before and also earlier that same day, when the wait was only about 15 minutes tops, but I was patient and got in it. Same thing with IASW Holiday - the line can go from NO wait to a one-hour wait in the bllink of an eye, so it changes my view on how much I really enjoy the ride when I have to stand in a looooooonnnnnnng line! I mean, I expect long lines to a degree, but at the same time, seeing nothing but long lines helps me really prioritize and decide what is important to ride and what is not!

I always inhale deeply while going into the sushi restaurant (mmm, pickled ginger), but I have never heard of or smelled anything in the other two rooms! I assume the snowcones are lemon? But, ew, what smells are in the locker room? :scared:

Fainting.

Also, RR's line is really chaotic and overwhelming. Lots of noise in a small space. And the ride itself is overwhelming with sound, so after spending a long time in line being bombarded, it can make the ride very unpleasant. Monsters' line isn't bad, but the ride is loud, with many things going on all over, blinding lights in your eyes (bad for me and my sis in law, who have both had Lasik done), air coming out at you, etc etc. Even my brother, who is about the most stoic person you will ever meet (if you are a Burn Notice fan, just imagine my brother as Michael and you've got his personality), commented on how overwhelming the ride was.

Any other questions? Comments? I'll start...we had a blast on Grizzly, but did not get drenched. Whew.

And the iced lattes at Baker's Field are still better than Starbucks.

Wow, yep. That's how I can tell things are busy. When rides like Monsters and Pooh have a long wait! We almost always have walked on that ride (if not just waited a minute or two). The only time I've seen the line outside was in October a few years ago, and yes it was super busy!

It's an adorable ride, but I could never wait 3 hours!!! Probably not for any ride, unless maybe it really had the real Jack Sparrow at the end! ;)

I don't care for the bright lights on Monster's either though. I get ocular migraines, so I'm always afraid it's going to trigger one!

when i went last week it was a 25 minute wait. the queu was almost 3/4 full.

When I first read this I thought you were saying a 10 min wait for Monsters is good. I sure thought it was! We have always waited about 20-25 min for it. Once inside, there are cute things to read while you wait so I didn't mind. I love that ride because there are so many funny details in it if you look carefully. AND... there is a very difficult to spot hidden Mickey in it that I happened to catch last time. :thumbsup2 I hope the line is only 10 min when we go this week!

Now Pooh, we have always walked right on after Splash.

Exactly!!!!! We were very very underwhelmed when we finally got on it....and hot, and tired and just so over the whole Monsters Inc thing. I think that's why we didn't ride it again for a looooooooooooooong time....the best part is the smells, the eyes in the city scene and Roz at the end, she cracks me up!!!! lol

I changed the title b/c what I meant wasn't coming through. :)

I never said this (yay Molly, LOL), but the stated time was 10 minutes, and I'd never seen that before. The wait was longer than that.

But what I MEANT was that we had to wait outside, and we hadnt' had that happen before, and so I changed what I said to what I meant.

My husband would be so amused that I did the opposite of what I tell him to do all the time..."just say what you actually mean, Robert...":rotfl:

I remember the first time we rode Monster's and we had to wait outside in the rain. It was new and we had to wait in line through all of the switchbacks outside. The wait was probably an hour. Thank goodness it isn't that busy anymore. I'm just glad that it is usually a 5 min or less wait--I guess we get spoiled.
