Having to Cancel Trip...DD had Emergency Surgery

We are having to postpone our trip that is scheduled for May 22nd-31st at BLT. Our daughter had to have emergency surgery today, and will be in the hospital for at least another 2 days with home health care for another 3 or so days...

I am hoping I can get reservations for June 12th-19th....we have never been at this time of year. Any opinions??

On such short notice you will need some luck and flexibility on resort and maybe dates. We had to cancel at the last minute for any early May trip and I could not get a reservation for later in May unless I wanted to move a couple of times. I did eventually book for June, but only one resort had availability (and I was grateful for it!)

Hope all goes well with your daughter's recovery.

We've been that time of year a couple of times, but it's been quite a few years. It's hot, and it can be crowded, but the parks are usually open late and it's great pool/water park weather. We like to hit the parks early, take an afternoon break, and go back after the sun goes down. Hopefully there will be some availability for the dates you need.

I called last week in regard to inventory for the last week of July, first week of August - and the only thing available for the entire week was Saratoga Springs.

I was trying to get a studio or a 1br - so if your situation is different (2br etc)
There may be more inventory available.

The trip I am planning will more than likely be a solo trip, so it doesn't matter one bit to me where I say, or if it's a 1BR or a Studio. I am just trying to use some points that we had to move to a Holding Account from our recent trip that we had to cancel due to the death of my Mother.

So I can only book 60 days out - but I was just trying to see what was available and what my option were if I wanted to change resorts 1 or more times - either for fun - or to see what else is out there!

We have stayed almost everywhere now - with the exception of Beach Club.
We have stayed at Saratoga in a 2BR - at OKW in a 1BR - at BLT in a Studio - at VWL in a Studio - at BWV in a 1BR - at AKV Jambo in a Studio - so i still have to stay at AKV Kidani and Beach Club Villas.

DD is doing better and healing well. The doctor is keeping us in the hospital until at least Monday.

I was able to move our trip to June 11-19. We will be at SSR (our home resort) in a 2 bedroom lock-off for 3 days then a 2 bedroom dedicated for the remainder of the trip. I also wait listed for BLT....BLT 2 bedroom was our original plans.

I am going to call MS again on Monday to see if anything more has opened up.

That's wonderful news! Several years ago we had a similar situation where I had emergency back surgery. When we wait listed the CM recommended that we call daily. She told us that is doesn't hurt to call a couple of times a day. I would call once in the morning and once in the afternoon. By the time of our trip the waitlist came through for all of our dates. We've used this strategy for other short term notices and it has yet to fail us, though the anxiety in waiting is not fun. Best of Luck in health and home-away-from-home.

Even though you were probably looking forward to staying at BLT you will have a great time at SSR. We just got back from a 7 night stay at BLT. SSR is also our home resort. We all agreed that we preferred staying at SSR over BLT.

DD is still recovering very well

We will be leaving on June 9th and checking in on June 10-19 at SSR in a 2 bedroom dedicated!! The kids are all very excited!!
