Tough decision! Ill just chime in with a couple of things I experienced.
Weve gone to the Halloween party twice. Loved it, BUT....there are only 3 of us, so the cost wasnt as "bad" as yours. The first time was better than the second, due to crowds. I was told the very first night, in September, would be the lowest crowd night of the season. The second time, 2015, I pre purchased ticket (like a fool..Ill explain that in a bit). We went to blizzard beach that day and just driving around the "World" getting to the water park, then back to the resort, there were blinking signs everywhere stating "MNSSHP tonight is SOLD OUT" I guess they put the signs all over the highway so nobody actually shows up at the gate. Needless to say...lines for EVERYTHING were pretty long and we were about 100 rows back from the castle stage show and about 10 rows deep from the parade. I couldnt see a thing (5'2"). My husband had a little better luck and held my daughter on his shoulders.
So...now regarding pre purchase of tickets. In 2010ish...I pre purchases tickets for 6 us of to MVMCP. So exiting, right! Well.....about 30 minutes into the "party" it DOWNPOURED. And didnt stop for at least 2 hours. Because the party already started and the technically did have a couple of indoor venues (that 50,000 people were crammed into), there were no refunds. My elderly mother and my two (at the time) teen boys, went back to the resort the second it started to pour. My husband, daughter and I, soaking wet, made our way to one of the indoor venues. It was hot, wek, gross inside there because of so many people. We waited an hour, gave up and left. 20 minutes of ??? for $450 (it was cheaper back then).
My advice, if you are considering going, bring the costumes, put the money aside, and decide when you get there. Play it by ear, your mood, the kids wanting/not wanting to go and the weather!!
