So, I have to get a new phone and very soon. I currently have a Motorola Razr and got it when it was the "in" phone to have (not to mention expensive!). I need to get a new phone because this one is just dying. I have AT&T (Cingular) and it seems like they have no interesting phones out. Anybody have a suggestion? I was leaning towards one of those phones that slides out for texting, but it seems they are not that available anymore.

I, too, would have to go with iPhone! :thumbsup2

I don't like the iPhone because it gets all of the fingerprints on it. Plus, I'm a teacher and that is so not in my budget right now! lol

I have a fingerprint screen protector on mine and I have no fingerprint issues :)

I understand about the budget thing though. But I have to say..if you have the chance to get an iPhone, I'd go for it!

How about the Pantech dual slider one (slides up for numbers, and sideways for letters) or the Samsung slider with a keyboard?

Does AT&T use that? Hmm, do I need to get the phone from AT&T or can I do it another way? I saw two T-Mobile phones I wanted, could I use one of those somehow?

You would have to get the T-Mobile phone unlocked, but that is very expensive to do. If your contract with AT&T is up, I might look at other providers, especially Verizon for their great texting phones.

ya might wait till june when the new iphone comes out and get a used one on the cheap when people upgrade

I love my Blackberry Curve. I couldn't text with my Razr, so I upgraded to the Blackberry so I could text my son. It would take me forever to send a message on the Razr.

Hi
Im not sure if you have these mobile phones state side, but i would take a look at

Nokia N97
HTC Touch Hd
Samsung Omnia
Sony Ericsson X1
HTC G1

The iphone is a good phone, but old tech now,the only real good thing about the iphone is the app store.
All of the above phones can do what the iphone does,in some cases better.
If i had to pick One,it would have to be the: Nokia n97,if thats not out in the states then the HTC TOUCH HD hands down,Alot like the iphone but better camera, video playback, better screen and most app are free, unlike apples apps

Have a great day

I've considered changing to Boost Mobile when my contract is up at the end of summer. Yes you have to purchase the phone, but the bill is 50 bucks a month for everything.. and unlimited.

My son got the Pantech Duet with duel sliders and has had nothing but problems with it. He had to buy a cheap phone until he can upgrade but my husband got a Pantac Breeze and loves it. It is kind of simple but works great. I like Radio Shack better to get the phone than the ATT store.

If you have a chance.....get the iPhone.

Trust me.

Somewhere down the line, you will say "I wish I listened to Kevn and the others."

There are programs available to unlock pretty much any GSM phone now a days. Any T-Mobile phone will be GSM. I would go with an Android phone personally because I like the open source model.

Nikki, come to the iPhone dark side. ;)

No fingerprint issues with a matte screen protector. I didn't download a million apps, but the ones I did get are free and fun. :)

Phones with slide-out keyboards are definitely available on AT&T! We have about 4 right now.

Samsung Propel
Samsung Impression *Brand New this week*
Pantech Matrix
Pantech Matrix Pro

Also be on the lookout for the LG Zenon (Xenon? I have no idea how they're gonna spell it) - it should be out in the next week or 2.
*edit* The LG Xenon officially went on sale on our website today for $99. Touchscreen and a full keyboard! Very nice!

The Propel and Matrix are $50 and $79 respectively. Both have decent cameras, fast internet and GPS. Internet w/ GPS is less than an iPhone! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I work at an AT&T store! Happy hunting!

Okay, so I have another reason for my resistance to the iPhone: my nails. Hello? Did you not see that I am from Jerzy? I'm concerned that I won't be able to manipulate the buttons and NO I don't have claws, but still. lol

So many choices. I guess my issue is that when the Razr came out, it really just jumped out at me and I knew I wanted that phone. What makes the iPhone so good? What about the others? I don't need a GPS because I already have a brand new Garmin. I would not do much Internet stuff on there (I have the multimedia bundle so there's a limit on how much I can do) either.

Best advice is to go to your closest AT&T store and play with them all. Don't let the sales rep opinion sway you, just look and touch. Make a phone call, try out the touchscreens, take a picture. I love my iPhone and couldn't live without it, I can be on the boards in class! (Maybe I shouldn't have admitted to that :rotfl:) It's not for everyone though.

Nikki, with the iPhone, there are no buttons. It's all touch screen. No need to worry about the nails. (I'm from Jersey, I understand!)

If not an iPhone, my second choice from ATT would be the Blackberry Bold.
