Having friends visit you while at the Fort

When we come to visit at Christmas we don't try to drive around. When we tell them why we are there we are usually directed to the overflow lot and asked about how long we think we'll be staying. We usually walk around or take the bus over to Pioneer Hall and walk back from there. We usually don't ever stay for more than 2-3 hours max.

Oh, well that’s a horse of a different color! :rainbow:

I think we all assumed you meant you were allowed in past the automatic gate to actually drive around inside FW. Totally different scenario entirely, and it's absolutely perfectly FINE to park in overflow and take an internal bus or walk around FW and see the sights, shop, eat, etc. No trouble at all, that - stay as long as you like! :thumbsup2

I'm not ever one to take advantage of anyone/anything at Disney. This is my 5th year as an annual pass holder and my son/family and I go to the parks about 20-30 times a year. I get aggravated by a lot of the rude behavior that I witness, so I go to great lengths to be sure that I am not breaking any rules of "Disney etiquette". I like to do my part to make sure that it remains "The Happiest Place on Earth" :tigger:

Just for the record, DisneyLand is the "Happiest Place on Earth", Walt Disney World is the "Most Magical Place on Earth". These are each superlative phrases, meaning there can be only one... yes, I'm a word geek and I know I'm the only one who cares about this! LOL ;)

No breach of etiquette at all! Just a little misunderstanding about what "let you in" actually meant. :rotfl:

Like I said - visitors are welcome at FW, they just generally need to park their cars on the way in. :flower3:

Wow! Tough crowd here! :flower3: I'll be sure to check my "words" in the future...assuming I remain welcome here. Don't worry, no offense taken. I'm a word geek myself, so I appreciate the correction.

So if Disney World is the "Most magical place on Earth" that would explain why I have seen the "magic" of rewards for boorish behavior on occasion in the parks! :scared1:

Ohh, another word geek! Are you going to be at the Fort in early December? I'll bring my Scrabble board and OSPD! LOL

Sorry if we were being tough on ya, and BTW if anybody is on the cusp of being unwelcome around here it's me, and I'm a piece of the furniture... but even a once comfy chair is occasionally hauled to the dump! LOL

Did I miss something? Why are you being hauled to the dump:confused3

Shan, have you been inhaling wood stain and varnish fumes again? :confused3

Shan-man - won't be staying there in early December, but I'll certainly be happy to "crash the gate" and challenge you to some Scrabble! Tell me again, can I just drive in and park at your campsite? :rotfl2: JK

Really, though, me and my small fry are in the parks nearly every weekend, so anyone...Give me a shout and we'll meet you somewhere.:tigger:

Our FW dates are 11/20-11/24/09. We are tent camping...first time ever. So if anyone wants to help/give tons of advise, we welcome it!

Frankly, I've been in a lot of pain for the last 3 weeks (don't ask) and my attitude has been, well, let's say a little gruffer and more abrupt than normal, and certain regulars are a little sick of my s***! Maybe they'll like me again when I'm back to being jolly? I sure hope so.

Aww Shan....your just as good now as you never were!!!! :lmao: you are a-ok in my book!!!

Shan, I'm sorry you're in pain. But as far as regulars being sick of your s***, I don't know what you're talking about. So, either I missed something, or you're huffin' those fumes, buddy! :lmao:

Well, shucks Shan, sorry I caught you on a bad day. Pain sucks. Looking forward to meeting you IRL on a good day sometime.

Aw, that sucks Shannon - so sorry to hear it. Hope you're feeling better soon!

And no worries, even Santa is allowed to be a little grumpy from time to time. :santa:

CRUD! That wasn't exactly my plan, but I love to fit in. Really, though, I think I can.

Please take me in...you'll love me once you get to know me! (My son may take more time though!!)

Well, it is hard to like someone you envy (going to WDW weekly!), but I'll try ;)

I read this thread and now I'm confused. I thought we COULD NOT park our tow vehicle at our site when staying at FW? I thought I had read (a long time ago and perhaps I misunderstood) that you could only drive your vehicle in to tow your TT and then had to go park it in some parking lot? I thought this belief was strengthened by the fact that I've never seen a picture of any sites there (with RVs, TTs, etc.) with the vehicle there next to it? So where do you park your vehicle if you are allowed to keep it at your site? And why does no one ever have them there? I've also walked around FW a few times (having gone there to eat/look around/and-or for the campfire) and never saw any vehicles parked at the sites.

So I'm terribly confused now........ so we can keep our vehicle at our site during our stay?

Yes, you can keep your tow vehicle at your site with your trailer. If you have a motorhome, you can also have one other vehicle on your site. If you tent, you may have one vehicle on your site.

That has always been the rule.

You cannot have two vehicles with a trailer or tent, or more than one vehicle in addition to the motorhome.

I don't know why you haven't seen any tow vehicles on sites. A lot of folks do drive to the parks in their tow vehicles, but if you visit at night, almost every site will have a vehicle in it.

Okay thanks for the info.
Everytime I walked around except maybe once- was at night- but maybe not late enough that people were back to their sites yet. LOL I mean parks were still open and such.. it was dark but not necessarily BEDTIME.. yanno? Shortly before and after the campfire thing. :)

That's cool to know though. Where will we put it? It looks like the sites (we have premium booked) only have a slab for the motorhome to pull in-is there room on that slab for the vehicle too without sticking out in the roads and stuff? Thanks for the info for sure- appreciate it!
