Having a wobble about CG.....

Oh dear, I'm having a wobble about our booking at the CG.

It's DH birthday whilst we are away, not a biggee but I still wanted to do something special for him.....

So I booked a table at the CG for 7.30pm for the four of us (2 DD's 7 & 5) and thought we could have a meal, watch the fireworks and I was also thinking of booking a limo.....

BUT I have just read the menu (why I didn't think to do this sooner I don't know) and tbh althought I would eat a lot of the meals on there, I'm not sure DH will think too much of it...

Problem is, our trip is only 4 weeks away so I'm thinking that booking something else at this stage would be quite tricky. I just thought that watching the fireworks would be nice etc.....

Any ideas where else/what else I could book if I decide against the CG..... I could still book a limo and that could be the 'highlight' of the surprise rather than the fireworks

On a brighter note, I have had worse dilemmas to deal with and after all, we will be in Florida in under 4 weeks time

The chef at CG is fantastic - we took 4 picky eat last year and when I say picky I mean really picky no sauce, no pink in meat one doesn't pasta, couple don't eat rice etc etc! The server was really good at working with us to put together a meal they would enjoy.

I would say as long as there are some items on the menu he will eat go and enjoy.

Have you looked at Narcoossees at the Grand Flordian - that has a nice view of the fireworks too. Not sure if you will find the menu any better?

the menu is seasonal so it changes more than some other menu's do. We had a very special evening there and would recommend it. It sounds very fancy but aside from that the food is well cooked and tasty.

Does your DH like steak? I am sure if you asked they would do it without sauce etc.

Its a great experience - go for it! Make sure you stick around for the fireworks

We ate at CG with picky eaters and it was a nightmare tbh. Admittedly they are kids and adults are probably easier to sort but it made for a stressful experience and not all that enjoyable. We wouldn't go back.

What about contacting Disney's Private Dining they will prepare a tailored menu for you, you can eat in a secluded location on your own with your own butler. Maybe ask for a location at the GF and then you can watch the fireworks from the beach followed by the Electrical Water Pageant. The number for GF private dining is Grand Floridian: 407-824-2473

Yes DH does like steak. I think the problem is, is that we do like good food but the menu is quite 'fancy'. We don't do fancy!!!!! but at the end of the day we could share a flatbread as a starter, then he could have a steak. The silly thing is, he may well have chosen a steak anyway but it would have been nice for him to have a choice IYSWIM....

I emailed the 'private dining' person and she sent me the menu and prices etc, quite a nice idea, she didn't address my question about the kids being with us?! and the prices where very expensive so I think we will stick with this ADR and I just hope that DH is happy with it when the time comes!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed, I am going to go ahead and book the limo -

I have found the menu very good and there will be something for everyone! on one trip the couple on the table next to us had the chef at their table customizing a meal for one of them. My wife is not a big fan of much other than Chicken and Steak and has always found plenty to chose from, we have never left there hungry and have had some of most memorable firework and dining experiences at the CG.
