Having a hard time with customer service at runDisney

It has been pointed out by several members "on your favorite website" that the reason are safety issues. Also these members have pointed out to you the runDisney rules for wheelchair participation. I don't understand how runDisney could be any clearer in their rules for wheelchair participants.

I understand that this event could be important to you and certainly a milestone to celebrate. Since you were told "No" already, I would be looking at other ways you can celebrate this important milestone with your DD and family.

Safety has to come before accessibility. If they drastically reduced the number of participants, maybe it could be done safely. I don't think that's the right answer though. I think a separate event for wheelchairs might be something to lobby for.

They used to have a stroller division until there was several issues with young kids in strollers being seriously hurt during one or two 5ks (or the one princess a mom insisted her young toddler walk through the 5k start line who pretty much got steamrolled by thousand other runners) hence now no children younger than 5 can compete and must do under their 'own power' and hard age limits have appeared for all races..

So much has become 'for the safety of all' vs the 'wants of one' because for every one runner/wheelchair that could follow the rules you'd have 5-10 that wouldn't and potentially hurt other runners..

Also, the "Mom's Panel" replies are not only not official, but they are not moderated/corrected. If a person posts an error of fact to DisBoards they tend be be jumped on with correct information given in about a half dozen responses.

Hey, that's an idea! Disney could do a "pairs" 5K.

On YouTube there is a playlist of videos that a wheelchair racer shot from his hand cycle of the WDW marathon coarse. One it gives an neat perspective of thing ad two it may give the OP an idea of what the overall terrain of the course is. Some parts of it seem to even be on grace or dirt paths and even the warning track of the baseball stadium.

I had left this open because the OP seemed to be expecting to get a response from RunDisney.
I think it's time to close it because it's basically repeating the same things.

If the OP has a response from RunDisney and wants it added, contact lanejudy or me to add it.
