Hi everyone!

Let me preface this question by saying that I know it is ultimately a personal choice, but just want to get some general feedback. So thanks in advance if you offer an opinion :hippie:

Getting married next november, and planning to honeymoon beginning of December, due to work schedules.
FH and I are fairly new DVC members.
I orignally wanted to go to Maui, and possibly Kaui, but, we would need at least 10-12 days, and FH is self employed, so that would be hard for him.
I also hate flying period, but do it, but quite frankly, a 9 hour flight would probably not help my psyche much!:goodvibes.

Our other option, which my future hubby LOVES, is going on a 7 night eastern caribbean Disney Magic cruise. Then, a few days at Disney afterwards.

I guess my major concern is that we go to disney at least once a year, and for our honeymoon wanted it to be extra special. Neither one of us have ever cruised before, keep in mind.

Also, keep in mind that in order to cover most of the Hawaii trip, we would need to borrow all of our points from 2011, and then lay out cash on top of that, and we are already paying for the wedding ourselves, which is bankrupting us:dance3:.
If we do the cruise, we only have to borrow under 50 pts total from the follwing year, which still leaves us options for 2011.
*what to do, what to do*

I would suggest the cruise and then a few days in Disney. We love Disney and vacation there often also. We were married there this past November and stayed there for our Honeymoon. Due to the fact that we got free annual passes, we have been back twice since then (for DH's birthday in March and my birthday in May). We are planning on two weeks (last week of October and first week of November) this year also to take advantage of our AP's.

While I understand Hawaii is wonderful and different, while in Disney this past March and May everytime we went somewhere we would say, this is where we were married, this is where we did our morning after wedding breakfast, etc. I think if you go for your honeymoon, and do some things that you usually do but also do some extra special things when you go back years later, you can say, this is where we spent our honeymoon. Also, as you have never done a cruise that would something different you can experience together (and a Disney cruise is wonderful).

Linda

Also, there is nothing wrong with taking a day to head out to the ocean.

DH and I are also brand new DVC members (we bought in to BLT on our Disney Wedding/Disneymoon trip).

I totally agree that you should do the cruise and a few days at WDW...you can add on some special activities, like tours or massages or dining with an Imagineer or golf...a couple of things you wouldn't normally do on a regular WDW trip...

HTH! :goodvibes

We bought into BLT as well!
Already booked my 30th birthday trip for may!! We will be staying at Saratoga Springs in September though. :)

I'd stay a couple of days in WDW after the wedding then cruise on the Magic.
DH and I went to his home island on the Magic for our 9th anniversary and my b-day and it was wonderful!

I can't recommend it enough, so romantic and relaxing.
We are due to take off on the Wonder for Halloween later this year and I can't wait!!!:lovestruc:cloud9:

Lisa-
What dates will you be in WDW?
And I see you're from NY! :cool1:

Yep! New yorker here! I live about 1/2 hour north of Manhattan. You?

And we will be there from 9/25-10/3. Can't wait!!

Looks like we will JUST miss each other! :(

We are going to just miss each other!

But....I'm originally from West Nyack, NY in Rockland County (about 11 miles north of the city) and now DH and I live on the Yonkers/Bronx border, so I am about a 25 min train ride from midtown...I'm thinking we must live fairly close to each other! :cool1:

We are very close to each other.
We live in Hawthorne! Ride above white plains. We are right off the Bronx River Parkway...too funny!
I'm sure we will run into each other @ BLT as well. :cool1:

I friend requested you :)

Lisa-
I WORK in Hawthorne!!!!! Too funny!!

I got the friend request....I accepted! :)

I would say that the Disney Cruise is sooo nice, I would do the parks first- when you're walking around and getting hot, and then relax the days away on the cruise afterwards (just my opinion).

But if you do go to Hawaii- I would definitely recommend The Big Island (specifically Kona) We LOVED it there- it's exactly what you would want Hawaii to be, and our hotel (Outrigger) the sea turtles layed in the sun for hours a day right next to the hotel. I got some AMAZING pics.

I don't have any advice because we haven't had our honeymoon yet, but we are going on the Disney Magic for 7 nights and then having 4 nights in Saratoga Springs so I think that sounds like a great idea :)

We stayed at Disney for a week after the wedding and then went on a Caribbean cruise for a week....it was fantastic! And, because we had not cruised before, we used our planned honeymoon cruise as an excuse to take a week-long Alaskan cruise a couple of months before our wedding just to see if cruising was okay for us. It was. :thumbsup2

YAY. First time cruisers here as well...My only concern is motion sickness. I'm usually ok, so I imaging on a large cruise ship I'll be fine! :hippie:
