Hi everyone!!!

Glad my trip plans are amusing you all!! (It amuses me too!! :rotfl: ) I consider myself a self proclaimed WDW expert but this is such a different time of year for us that I feel like a newbie!!!

Want to hear my ADR nightmare?! I mentioned to DH last night that we could only get a 8:10 pm at Le Cellier on our last night with a 9pm Illuminations and 10pm MK closing. (We ALWAYS go to MK our last night) We would have missed Illuminations AND MK, and would have waited FORVER for a bus to get back to the hotel. He says it is too late to cancel and get an earlier dinner somewhere else (We were thinking Yacht Galley Grille (or whatever it is called)or GFC). So I call and I ask if there are any earlier openings at Le Cellier that night. Sure enough- there was a 6pm!! :cool1: We get it booked and he looks at my ADR list and says "That's strange, you have 3 dinner reservations that night..." I say, yeah, cancel the 8:10 and I give him my ADR #. He cancels it and says "So we are cancelling the 8:10 at CORAL REEF?" CORAL REEF?! It was supposed to be Le Cellier. Nope, it was Coral Reef and I also had a 4:30 there as well on the same night :confused3 So we cancelled that one too and he ran down the rest of my list to confirm the dates and times were all accurate (which they were) Can you imagine if we got to Le Cellier at 8:00 on our last night and found out that we didn't have an ADR there :faint:

So here are my ADR's
Tutto Italia our first night, Crystal Palace "brunch" (got the last seating for breakfast and we should be there for the lunch conversion), Chef Mickey's Breakfast (made sure to note the Birthday on this one! :thumbsup2 ), Play N Dine Breakfast, Sci Fi late lunch, Teppan Edo dinner, Le Cellier dinner. Not bad for calling 47 days out!! We will probably pay OOP for the Sci Fi rather than use a credit there. I wanted to skip Play N Dine and just use the credit at the Sci Fi but neither DH or DS wanted to skip it!!

OK, so catching up...

Debbie- we are there 5/14 to 5/20. Normally I avoid midweek to midweek trips but the airfare was such a steal we took it!! I am just glad Pop had so many openings that time that it was esy to fiddle with the airfare and get the hotel to match!

Goofy
- enjoy the cabana! This was my favorite indulence last trip!! :cloud9: DH still gives me grief about the $65 strawberries and says the cabana was money spent more wisely  It's a shame we are going to the GF in December and not this trip (although there was room at the GF the week we are going, hmmm.... :rotfl: ) Anyway, I won't rent the cabana then since the weather is too unpredictable. We are planning a pool day this trip on the day we go to the P&P Party so the cabana would have been great!!!

Thanks for the tip on CBR, I figured that was why there were so many rooms available over there (I think the only mod for my dates too). The pool is the main appeal to me at CBR. I mentioned the moderate upgrade to DH but he thinks it is silly to upgrade from value to mod since the ammenities aren't much better (not to mention CBR is SO much bigger and more spread out than Pop) He said he would only upgrade to Deluxe... still wish he would go for AKL but it would add $600 to the trip price and when we are going for $2400 for the week (including DDP and airfare) he isn't about to splurge (Unless I agree to stay somewhere other than the GF in December  NO WAY JOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Tinklvr & Vanessa- The Wilderness was where we were booked at the Dells :rotfl: We were going for 2 nights. After lodging, minigolf, go-carts, food, gas etc. it was going to cost us at least $600 just for 2 stinkin' nights. We are coming out WAY ahead with the Pop trip (Even DS4 told DH last night he was glad we were going to WDW for his birthday instead since "There's more to do at Disneyworld, Daddy... besides, Wisconsin Dells isn't going anywhere..." :rotfl2: From the mouths of babes!! Mommy has trained him well! :thumbsup2 )

Lindsay- I hope we aren't disappointed with Pop. When I was chatting with the WONDERFUL CM who booked it all for me (airfare, dining etc.) she got real quiet when I mentioned we were sandwiching this Pop trip between the 2 GF trips. I laughed and told her not to worry, we were only looking at this as a place to sleep with a couple of cute statues to amuse DS!!
We were nervous about staying at POR since it was our first time not staying Deluxe and it was getting horrible reviews here on the Dis at that time. We had low expectations and they were greatly exceeded!! I just hope the same is true for Pop!! Thanks for all the tips about the noise and how to avoid it... We usually bring a small fan to travel with as a white noise maker (we all sleep with them year round at home) and that helps drown out almost everything!!
Airfare is still so horrendous for our Decmber trip that we might fly down on Friday night and roll into Pop around midnight just for the night before heading over to the GF... if this trip goes well we will probably consider it, if not we will probably stay at the Airport Hyatt- I used to stay there for business on my last night in Orlando all the time!!

Hi to everyone else I missed!! I am just going to take a quick tour around the boards to see what is new and then I have to clean. My IL's are coming over around 2pm and I still have all our Easter decs out... might as well take them down as I am cleaning. Also I need to mentally prepare for the "Oh! I wanna go too!!!" speech that is coming when we tell them about this trip... Since MIL is allergic to heat/sun, maybe I can convince her that it will be 100 degrees in May and it will be too hot!!

Have a great weekend!
Kristin

Kristin~you are a LUCKY duck!!!! :yay:

Vbarry~where are you in IL??? We always stay at Great Wolf in the Dells, but the last time we were there it was not a good experience, so we are all turned off by that place. Have ya all heard about the new waterpark by SixFlags just opened.

Hi to all of you new chatters...the more the merrier!!! ;)

Got to get ready for class this pm..yuck Its just the start of our spring break and I still have class. Then back to pack for Las Vegas..not excited at all Now if it was Disney i would be OUT OF MY MIND! Got to be nice for my inlaws though...:upsidedow

Vanessa and Kristin (and anyone else who know the answer), what is Dis Wells. I have heard you all talking about it but have never heard of it. We are from south GA and I don't know a whole lot about that area of the country. For a place that expensive it must be nice.

The Dells is an area in Wisconsin about 2 hours north of Chicago. A big lake, tons of hotels, skiing in the winter, 4 big water parks (not including all the resorts with water parks). It is a popular getaway for Midwesterns.

Sounds like you have it all figured out! :thumbsup2 I thought I read somewhere that Pop got new alarm clocks that have a "white noise" feature, so if you forget your fan, that will at least be an option.

We're doing the "value for 1 night" thing prior to checking into the GF in May. My mom gets in around 8:30 our arrival evening, but I don't land at MCO until after 10. We're going to stay at ASMu that night on a super-cheap AP rate - haven't stayed at any of the All Stars yet, and the new refurbs look nice. I'm sure I'll be glad to high tail it to the GF come morning, though! ;)

Good list of ADR's, too! That's not half bad for so close! :thumbsup2

Hope you can avoid the IL's....

its gross :rotfl:
a place you can eat at DHS

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I must say, it's not one of our faves, either. The one and only time we ate there in Dec. '05, DH and I both came down with food poisoning mere hours later (he ended up in the hospital with it). :scared: We're fairly sure that was the culprit.

DH has not eaten a reuben sandwich since. :crazy2:

We are in Central Illinois...between Peoria and Springfield. I have not gone to the Great Wolf Lodge. I did really enjoy the Wilderness. We always go in the summer. They even have cabana rentals!! It is a great summer vacation that is close to home. As we all know...there is not a lot to do in Illinois!

Kristin, thanks for the info about Wis Dells. It sounds like a really neat place but like y'all I think I'll stick to my favoite place - Disney. I think that I'm nuts for going every two months so I can't imagine what all of my friends think that they aren't saying to my face.

My son loves Sci Fi. He has to go every time we go to get the gloe in the dark ice. I know we can get it at other restaurants but he has to get it from there. There is just something special about to him.

It is a tourist trap...but a lot of fun. It is great for kids. Tons of waterparks, a large lake, go carts, jet boat rides etc. You name it for kids and they have it. It does get very expensive because you do not just buy a ticket like WDW and enjoy everything...each thing costs seperately and it does add up. We enjooy the Wilderness Resort. It is a very large resort with several different indoor and outdoor waterparks. My girls love it there!

A question about the GF restaurants...my sis and I will be going and staying at the WL soon but want to eat at either Narcoosee's or Citrico's. We've not done either, neither of us eats much, both like seafood, and I just want to hear your comments about both restaurants. The Unofficial Guide to Disney is NOT kind to Narcoosee's but I've seen good reports from my Dis friends before. Not as many on Citricos.
Your thoughts please? I need to make a ressie ASAP.

So sorry about the food poisoning at the Sci Fi!! DH and I got it from lettuce at our local Red Robin last year (NO FUN!!!)

The food at the Sci Fi is very average. We go just for the atmosphere and go for a late lunch. DS orders his own meal and DH and I usually order a cocktail and split an appetizer or a sandwich. I would never go for dinner since there are so many better places to eat. We also pay OOP for this one rather than waste the dining plan credit :rotfl:

Grannyminnie- I haven't eaten at Narcossees since our honeymoon (it was the last place I ate seafood before my budding seafood allergy decided it was time to appear!! Not a fun way to spend a night on your honeymoon :sad2: ) But we are trying it again this December since DH really wants to go back (I will just stick to steak :thumbsup2 ). Take the reviews you get on the Dis with a grain of salt. It seems people always go out of their way to post the bad, not the good...

Have a great Sunday everyone!
Kristin

grannyminnie

I haven't been the either, but I think we are going to give Narcossees a try. I think I like that it is outside of the main building at the GF. If you plan your ressie with Wishes I heard its beautiful. Then the water parade comes by. If you want check out the reviews on www.allears.net.

Have a great time!!:goodvibes

Hi, guys....trying to catch up. I have spent the last couple days vegging on the family room sofa watching old tv shows and in bed.

I am going to try and post pics later today but need techno help from DH.....

Wow!! We always thought Sci Fi was great!!! the food is soso, but the atmosphere is fun. They make good shakes/malts.:goodvibes We have had super nice waiters/waitresses. Does that count for something?? I always get the grilled chicken sandwich w/ham and some type of cheese and ask for extra bbq sauce. The kids do burgers of DS gets a reuben. It's basic, but we all enjoy the stupid movies time after time.

GrannieMinnie, our last Citricos was bleh - but that was over a year ago. We've been there twice....the first was TERRIFIC service and food all around impressive. The second time left us feeling like we didn't care to go back. It was a total 180 from the first time we dined there. Only did Narcoosees once and it was yummy but we don't do seafood really - we have the filet.....I don't know how anybody finds room for the desserts. I had a yummy salad and main course and I was stuffed.....none of the 5 of us could sqeeze in dessert. :rotfl: We could have seen Wishes from our table, but we ditched to go watch from our room. I'd definitely go back to Narcoosees....Citricos I am not sure of yet.;)

DS had some yummy salmon at Artist Point. That was a great place I don't hear much about on the DIS. I tried the buffalo steak and it was delicious.

Kristin
- sounds good!! They once had all my July ADRs booked for MAY!!!! OMG>....I just happened to call to rearrange a few and found that out. :rotfl: I LOVE "I think I love you....".....my sister and I had the Partridge Family 33s and played that song OVER and over.....My friend saw D Cassidy last year and said he really puts on a great fun show. You will love going in May. :thumbsup2 OMG....about that Red Robin...I get SICK everytime I eat there. I mean I am runnin to the bathroom before we even leave the table & it ruins me for at least two days. Ick. Sometimes I get a craving for it though....they must do something funky with their meat because last time I ate grilled chicken and was OK, but if I do a burger - :scared1: :scared1:

Vanessa....about the Grand 1.... I thought an hour was perfect. We cruised around a bit before Wishes (probably 1/2 hr), watched Wishes, and then went below for cake while they cruised around the lagoon.....they were generous with the time and took us around a bit extra and also didn't kick us off right when they docked. You have to figure in the tip, too.....it cost us about $600 for that hour. It was a splurge, but fun for a special occaision (MY birthday, haha). I remember thinking it was great, but I wasn't in a rush to do it again....although there is a fabulous "new" yacht out there that is really GRANDER than Grand. :goodvibes Might want to try that one out, but for $600/hr...I think I could almost prefer to do another RPC night for that amt.

I guess I better email about my bill. I saw some hanging on other doors, so I know they still do that......free would be good though. :rotfl:

We haven't been up to the Dells since I was a teenager. I bet it's changed a ton. Disney has ruined me for anything like that. Since it looks like we probably won't be doing our July 4 WDW trip I need something extra fun to do up here though.

Hope to get pics posted by tonight.

Have a great day, all!

Channing :)

Thanks all for the comments about Narcoosee's and Citricos. I'd like to think we'd have room for a dessert at either place but might end up not!
I've peeked inside Citricos and it looks nice but i see more comments here about Narcoosee's. It must be the more popular choice. I just hate spending that much money and not ending up really pleased and happy about our meal, ya know?
Channing, your comment about Artist Point is interesting, since I actually did a search on the Dis for comments about it (since we're staying at the WL and could eat there) but, you're right...nobody comments about it!! Wonder why?
Red Robin...whatever that is, I'm glad we don't have 'em here!!! :lmao:

Channing, thank you for the comments about Artist Point. Friends of ours love it there, so we made our ADRs for there in August. I love salmon so I will have to give it a try. Can't wait to see your pictures.
